Yesterday

What's a label
an obbligato
the letter "V"
22th until swallowed

Or preyed by the eagle
who raids for the booty
once said in the past
last is first
first was last humble duty

Tell me about my future
pages torn from a blue book
staple the present with the past
in advance a second look

First an "L" at last an "L"
a sign was labeled at the door
begin "O" ending "O"
obbligato

So lonely the "V" maintains
filled with hope despite envy
to ascend and decline
free the Eagle fly friendly

Where to point was no good
being not nice to point
in disguise beforehand spelling LOVE
meant to anoint

Yesterday

Why did sight attempt to blur my vision
was it a distaction or merely a decision

A prolonged thought too soon to judge
twice got water and dirt from mud

But tommorrow was a promise
October the 19th
for you to know, who would know
maybe something I dreamt

Tommorrow made a promise
memory would last long
here today a lesson taught
tommorrow gone

Will Wednesday show up late again
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday's bait
sucker punch below the chin
right hand taking cupid's place

Dizzy with consistency
frown but smile beyond the face
break a habit usually
pattern broke another day

Yesterday

My oh my
what an appearance to perceive
the comparison from a past mistake
trembled knee indeed

If I was to classify an attitude
security notification
in search for courage a lion roared
a mental revelation

Just yesterday I said goodbye
80 yard pass the thought defend
an attempted chance at second down conversion
penalty flagged a flawless win

Tommorrow one might wink a lie
lost to dark a will to glow
back one step a prep step closer
light so bright rain hailed to snow

But today's about my future you
a page once posted with devotion applied
pleasure to caress from deep within
yesterday my future pride

That's how my greeting begins

YESTERDAY.
