The Fruit of Idle Rebellion

We’ve run till we’ve bled

But we’ve run out of time
Our legs feel like lead
From the weight of our crime
We didn’t care for the laws
We were cold and rebelled
Rebels without cause
And now our trials are held
With a jury my peers
And a judge from my past
Choke down their jeers
Reap the rewards at long last
Cause we reap what we sow
And we’ve sown only sin
Cause it’s all that we know
And there’s no way to win
It’s all just a dream
From which I can’t wake
Your tears are a stream
And your body it shakes

But not like mine will
When I’m strapped to the chair
And the air it will fill
With the burning of hair
With the burning of me
As I twist and I scream
And you can’t bear to see
The death of a dream
There’s nothing to show

For why your tears are shed
We died long ago
Our blood has all bled
My heart’s long been dark
And my thoughts long been cold
Your knife found its mark
Now I’ll never grow old
Cause death lasts forever
Death comes too fast
But never say never
Cause our time is soon past
