Because of a Teacher

Because he had a teacher
He came to school so proud
Each new shoe he lay
confidently on the ground

Because she had a teacher
Her hair looked oh so nice
For picture day that year
Her ponytail-precise

Because they had a teacher
They lay safe upon their bed
Not a worry they will feel
Inside their little head

Because she had a teacher
She learned to use her voice
Never keeping secrets
A braver type of choice

Because he had a teacher
He looked around his home
Now knowing there is better
He could do it on his own

Because they had a teacher
Their hunger is no more
An angel brought them bags
That wait upon their door

Because she had a teacher
At the interview she waits
She got the job she wanted
Because she learned to sit up straight

Because he had a teacher
He decided not to try
Those addictive type of things
His parents didn’t mind to hide

Because they had a teacher
Their tree was filled with gifts
Nothing they received that day
Was from a relative

Because you are a teacher
You sometimes feel the woe
Of all the things you do
How far it all will go

But know the years will carry them
To places far and wide
Because they had a teacher
They carry you inside

Great rhyme. Nice rhythm and floe. It expresses a wonderful message. Teachers are so underrated and don't get enough credit for what they do.
