Waiting To Die

If I died would you come to my funeral
Would you stand there looking at me, waiting to exhale

Would you miss my smile, my face, and my laughter
Your chance is now gone; I'm in the hereafter

Will you cry to my mother, saying you're sorry
Don't mind it now, I'm heading to glory

I don't understand the pain that you feel
Now that I'm gone, I'm starting to heal

The pain that I felt on earth when I walked,
Is the pain you will feel until the day you are dropped

Dropped in the earth, with dirt all around you
We'll try this again, at the gates that will bind you

Random Thought

I think that we forget how to be human, after awhile.
Our feelings harden, due to the other non human beings who cause us to build
walls. These walls tend to keep out the actual humans who, just maybe, love us.
The innocent who, just maybe, love us are also hardened because of the
inhumane treatment put on upon by the first party.
In conclusion: This goes around and around and around. Humans causing each
other to hate, fear, and harden.

Papaw

I open up a photo album,
Seeing your bright face
Filled with smiles, laughter and joy
gleaming with such grace

A scholar in such things
Such as farming, God and love
A savior to those whom you've given
knowledge from above

A man such as you, I can only hope to render
My life seems incomplete without your helping hand
When dealing with my problems, I know you'd have the words
You'd look at me and say, "My dear, don't put your faith in man."

What a wonderful man you were, filled with such love
But I don't have a memory or nothing of the sort
Just a smile on a photograph, withered over time
Without a marveled influence, I think I've been cut short

The Color of a Mother's Love

When I think of you, my Mother
One thing comes to mind:yellow

Goldenrods and sunshine
Peace and all that's mellow

Halos, rings and lemonade
And honeysuckle too

Bumblebees and stary nights
And all the good that may shine through

Dolls with long blond locks
Babies yellow bonnets

Bath time duckies, lollipops
And also summer sonnets

There's many colors love can be
Red or even blue

But a Mothers love is somewhat different
With a golden kind of hue

Some day I hope my children see
That I am yellow too

For more than anything I say
I hope to be like you

Merry Christmas In Heaven

Merry Christmas in Heaven
From all of us here
Not forgotten on Christmas
Nor the whole year
Your smile, your laughter
Your holiday cheer
Filled the air in this place
When it gets quiet, I hear
Words can't express the sadness we feel
Though you're in Heaven without even a tear
I'll see you again behind golden gates
For Jesus is coming, I know it is near
Merry Christmas in Heaven
I wish you were here

I Thought I Saw You

I thought I saw you today
My heart stopped
My knees dropped
And then your face melted away

Your face in a frame
Your memory in my dream
But nothing compares
when I think you are seen

I thought I saw you today
But it was just a light
A glare
You were not there

My eyes can trick me any day
Because thinking that I saw you,
Made the blues go away

I thought I saw you today
If only for a second
If only for a minute
My life was a little better,
Because you were in it

You Are My Rock

After all of this mess
This that lay on my chest
My eyes burning with hurt
My surroundings: just dirt

I don't know what to do
I'm tired, it's true
After all of this mess,
Something good to confess

I have you at my hand
A bond that will stand
A love that will grow
Through troubles and woe

You know just what to say
When it wont go away
Look in your eyes
With little surprise
And tell you, my dear
I need you, it's clear.

Up Here

Up here I can be anything
A princess on her stool
A fire breathing dragon
Or a scary goblin gull

Up here I can be anything
An airplane in flight
A ship far at sea
Or the tallest one in sight

Up here I can be anything
A giant up a stalk
A teacher in a class
Or like an eying hulk

Up here I can be anything
He showed me that it's true
Holding me up high
My imagination grew

Up here I can be anything
Where? You want to know
Up here on Daddy's shoulders
I learned to make dreams grow

The Color of My Skin

The color of my skin helps me
I can get out of speeding tickets
I can have a fair education
I can laugh without fear
I can be here
I can be there
I can do anything

The color of your skin hurts you
Justice is not on your side
education is a joke
Your laughter is hidden
You can't be here
You can't be there
Your dreams are oppressed

What can I do?
What can't I do?
Prejudice
Discrimination
Racism; are too strong
I can be your friend

Growing Growing Gone

Feelings come and feelings go
Only the true ones really grow

Can it be so? Is it true?
Lo and behold, watch us bloom

A little water, a little sun
Look at what we have begun

Our feelings here, our feelings there
Our feelings growing everywhere

Watch out world, we grow like weeds
Watch as we grow above the trees

Oh No! I'm lost within the growth
It seems that our feelings have consumed us both

Help! Please, let me out!
Please, feelings, hear my desperate shout

Next time I'll be more careful it's true
I must give the seed the time it is due
