A Poem To My Son

My heart is filled with misery,
from that dreadful night.
I had to leave you standing there,
and walk right out of sight.
You were too young to understand,
why I left you there.
It was the best that I could do,
to show you that I cared.
If I was able to give to you,
all that you would need.
I wouldn't have left you standing there,
screaming out for me.
I was tired of your fathers ways,
and this your father knew.
He got a lawyer and a judge,
and took me away from you.
He made up lies and trashed my name,
and had me put in jail.
For he knew that if I weren't there,
He wouldn't be able to fail.
So now I hope that you can see,
some of the hell that I went through.
But please believe me when I say,
I didn't abandon you.
I have been sitting back in silence,
waiting for this day.
The day the you turn 15 years old,
and get to have your say.
Today you are allowed to choose,
just where you want to live.
I am hoping you will take a chance,
and see what I have to give.
I still love you very much my son,
you've always had my heart.
I look forward to day when we,
will never be apart.
