Change

I look into your eyes and find
Two different people staring back at me
I liked the man you used to be
The kind and caring trustworthy one

I see only a glimpse of that one now
You have changed in ways I cannot understand
Experiences in life have left you empty and cold
Our chance for love has come to pass

The man I loved left long ago
I sometimes wonder - where did that person go
In time he disappeared and with him went my love
My sadness deepens each time I look into your eyes

For now you are the unfaithful type
And choose to run at any sign of a relationship
You are weak and scared of commitment
I despise the new person I see in you

Do you ever stop to think about the loves you lost
Or the people you hurt through your unfaithfulness
Love and anger overcome me as I think of you
But most of all, I just miss the man you used to be

I guess it's true that people change
