My Family Tree

nostalgia runs deep in my family tree
when a day comes that I feel it
I think about all that I miss
washing my feet at the edge of the bath
or my mom brushing my hair
until it’s sits perfectly straight
not a curl left to twirl before bed

how did I float so far away from the feeling
of picnics with subway sandwiches
and the sand from a beach day stuck in my toes
of scratchy princess dresses and rubber princess shoes

but nostalgia runs deep in my family tree
so they’ll never let me forget it
even when I no longer feel young
I hear stories from past days of old
of throwing tantrums in the bath
until my mom would give up
and let me lay down dirty in my bed

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to PS. May I welcome you likewise with the love of the Lord WHO can build strong, steadfast families by His grace. According to the Bible's John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.
