The Swing Song

The Creak of a Swing, Caught in the Breeze,
Pushed by a Friend With Gentle Ease.
Listen Next Time You're Near,
to that Familiar Song
from a Childhood year.
The Chains Tangle, Then Snap Free
as You Kick to Touch the Branch
of the Nearest Tree.
Knee's Pumping, Climbing High as
you Dare to go.
As You reach Bottom,
You Just Drag a Toe.
One more pass, THEN, Just Let Go.
Think of the Thrill, Remember Still.
Summer Days Oh So Long,
When You Hear the Creak of a Swing,
STOP for a Moment, Your Youth is Singing
THE SWING SONG.

Oh gosh, here come the memories. My best friend and still now, used to swing with me on her red tree swing set for years. This is dating me, but we used to sing the song from a singer (who passed away years ago.) I can't remember her name, but I sure do remember the lyrics; We sang the chorus part for what seemed like hours, back and forth forever. "Kay Sarah, Sarah ,what ever shall be will be, the future is ours to see, Kay Sarah,Sarah. Probably from hearing it on The Lawrence Welk Show. What a wonderful memory your poem brought back to me. We are both 60 now. I would love to read this poem to her.
