Writer's Block

Excited, I picked up my pencil, ready to write,
But everything was definitely not all right.
My hand was ready to move, but my brain did not.
Suddenly, instead of flowing, my thoughts were a knot.
What is wrong with me? I did not know.
The only thing I could think of is, “Oh no!”
Something was happening, something every writer fears,
The brain’s desire to prevent was fierce.
Accepting my defeat, I exclaimed, “I’m through!”
Frustrated, my pencil, I threw.
As I was going to give up, just in time,
My thoughts came flowing back, as sweet as thyme.
Oh yes, Oh yes! It was working, my mind.
Without further ado, my ideas I mined.
