Sweet Little Child

I open the door,
But close my eyes.
Complete concentration
Or I’ll meet my demise.

I take a breath,
I look around.
Nobody is here.
There is no sound.

I remember why I came here,
I’m looking for someone.
He came here once before,
Looking for some fun.

He was so young back then,
So alive, so free, so pure.
I’ve lost him somewhere around here,
I think, but I’m not sure.

Around the dusty remains,
I pass a corridor.
Memories flood my mind
As I see the clothes you wore.

I hold them close to me,
As tears rolled down my face.
Oh, the things I would do
For one more real embrace.

But only bones remain now,
With memories when you smiled.
But now you’re gone forever.
Goodbye, my sweet little child.
