You Can Not Silence Me

This poem was written to include three or more words of the seven out of favor words from use at the CDC as a part of a flood of art and language and truth, in hard copy and solidarity.

In our world where the vulnerable suffer
and entitlement amasses to a proud few,
evidence and science-based approaches are insufficient
when alternative reality is deemed true.
We know that the key to change is our diversity
despite the perversity of the persistent right crew.
Our collective consciousness voiced
is our only choice
to unravel and recreate new
policy by the people and for the people
who look like me and you.

Reborn

Anticipating
a relationship reborn
on a skeleton
where love is the support,
two yearning souls seek wholeness,
prepared for the pains of growth.

Anticipating

Anticipating a brand new year,
White bows in your plats
and fresh new gear,
excitement bubbled, smiles ear to ear.
All I could say is,
"I love you dears."

I waved with excitement as you both marched away,
your father on duty
for your big day.

Then I quietly pray that your joy remains
that you feel safe and challenged,
Happy and sane.

And when it was different, I was there
With smothering hugs
drying your tears.

And now its all over, past tense, and I miss
Those running hugs
and sweet little kisses.

I want you to know that sometimes I still see
Your sweet little faces looking back at me
so loving and giving and full of glee.

Its why I linger
and go in for one more hug
Its because you fill me
with so much love.

And I will always be here for you.
For a laugh and some fun
or just to see you through.

I watch you as you go your own ways
and after goodbye I still pray
please God let their joy stay.

She: a Series of Vignettes

She is hot and cold,
keenly engaged then a
distant horizon.

She is like cotton candy,
so sweet and pretty but in
one bite evades me.

She doesn't respond
to my deep probing questions
impenetrable.

But when she is with me
the whole world reverberates
the passion we share.

Immersed in love's gaze
I see her soul leaping
spontaneously.

Always a question
whenever we meet is
who are you today.

When do I decide
if there's enough growth to stay
or just walk away.

Unveiled

Together we dream
of the moment we are free

Sunday Morn

An alluring lazy day,
that sweet intensity
The love between us.
A force. An energy.
Too strong to be ignored,
magnetic in its pull
it forges souls together.
Never are we bored
no matter how long
we lounge and make love.
We're wrapped up in our trance,
a kiss is like a dance.
My tongue as it explores
every inch of your pores
tantalized by your smell,
always wanting more.
Your body says it all,
responding to my touch,
Your breath caressing me,
so tender and sincere.
So deeply we connect.
Our world to be explored
in the womb of our bed
on a quiet Sunday morn.

The Edge

This poem was inspired by a piece from the modern artist Mark Ruthko.

Grey ash evinces our long hot burn. The blaze, suddenly extinguished, leaves a blackened smoltering expanse that uncouples here and the horizon, the beginning and the end, you and me. Separated, we burn quietly sending the signal, “I love you,” through the devastation, under the polluted purple sky. Alone.

Love Purgatory

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
I wish things were different.
I know you do too.
Our tepid connection is just not the same,
and sometimes I wish I never knew your name.
Still your face and your smile are ingrained in my heart,
and it breaks when I think that again we're apart.
Time is the only thing that may change your mind
but I am afraid as it passes I'll only find
you're still resistant, fearing the lie
that you are not number one, and it makes my hope die.
I don't want to be on hold, "wait and see".
I am who I am and I want intimacy.
I'll always be flawed and traveling with baggage.
If it's perfection you seek then I'm not the package.
I told you that you needed to definitively choose me,
and "not looking to date others" isn't the choice that should be
the reason why we are trying to be together.
Its a suspended relationship, not on track for forever.
This love purgatory
isn't for me.
