More

I think he was better than me
He saw more than me
He wasn’t as materialistic as I was and didn’t seem to care about the differences
Our quotient was still just me thinking about being lesser than someone who ripped away

Fever

I’m from the fireplace where flares emanates from the embers within
I’m from the buttons on the eggshell wall in the hallway, where I see faces with red noses and arms wrapped around their bodies
I’m from the glass window panes, outside beaming in onto your face

I’m from two hands intertwined, never forgetting what it feels like in that moment
I’m from an embrace that lasts minutes, the love erupting out of the chests of cliches
I’m from the nervousness that sets in, forehead gleaming with sweat and a fast beating heart

I’m from the sky, above the clouds, above the moon
I’m from just beyond the spring green leaves of a ginkgo tree, broken and glimmering
I’m from the pavement on the ashen road with quick feet barely touching me as they pass

I’m from the ceramic cup of tea, milk, and a dash of sugar and honey
I’m from under the pan with sparks flying out when the iron grazes iron
I’m from the plate on the table when your mother screams “don’t touch it, it’s too hot”

Not the Same

Arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder and it's been so long since the night I told her.

Please come closer and look at me harder.

You had me crying tears of liquid lying.

Burning at the stake I'm sorry but I wont make it.

I used to be in love with dying, but you got me to start trying.

I love you a lot a lot but let me confess that I'm not

The same person I was because

The flames have been suffocated and become more hated.

To you I devote myself for that I've withheld.

I'm yours, I'm mine, I'm yours, you're mine.

The False Beauty of Our Oceans

The expanse of the ocean seems quite wonderful
More fish to see, more reefs to be
But really, it’s quite dreadful
The expanse of the ocean is more than a ruse
Yet nobody believes the scientists who say
Just wait and see how much life we lose
Water’s getting warmer
The icebergs are melting
Now you’ll feel guilty, wading in the shower
And God forbid your vacation’s at stake
There’s no where to swim
In a dried up lake
There’s not much more time to save our fish
We sure love our oceans
But not enough to spare one wish

I Want To Be a Poem

I want to be a poem
I want to rhyme and be said in time
with stanzas that make you stand up
To be said with such grace and nobody can erase
the things i’ve said for the are not scratched
For words to match and themes to catch
I want to be a poem
so I can be spoken

Untitled

She greeted him with the dryness of the desert and he brought her to the ocean

Rich love burned hot between their hands

Melting them into their earths

His tides soothe her bodies drying in the sun

More of him is more of her

He gave her monsoons and she furnished him shells

Eternal energies
