Love Is Not a Sound

love is not a sound.
love is an action.
love is a smile at your child,
as she walks into the room.
love is a hug for someone
who is hurting inside.
love is a helping hand
to a physically challenge person.
love is giving a gift to someone
who doesn’t expect it.
love is cooking a special meal
for your husband
to show that you care.
love is giving of your time
to those who don’t have time left.
love is lending an ear to those
who just need you to listen.
love is paying-it-forward to those
who cannot pay it back.
love is rescuing a person
from injustice and bullying.
love is saving an animal
from the hands of abusers.
love is a verb and not only a noun.

Unknown Faces

Unknown faces … in worn out places …
telling stories … of slowed down paces.
Lights are dim … they can’t get in …
their pennies don’t count … and they’ll never win.

Life’s a drag … when it starts to sag …
the skin, I mean, …when you wear a rag.
Where will it end … no chance to mend …
‘cause life is on … a downward trend!

I Saw You In the Window

I saw you in the window but nothing was said.
Just a face of sadness from your down turned head.
A vision of desperation without any sound …
a sense of ‘imprisonment’ where no freedom was found.
The heartbreak was tangible in the face that I saw.
I wanted to help … for I couldn’t take more.

Then you lifted your head and for a moment our eyes met,
as you opened your mouth and I saw what you said.
“Help me please HELP ME”! Was the cry that I saw,
as tears streamed down your cheeks … my heart broke even more.

Watching Waiting Wishing

Watching,
… Waiting,
… Wishing it would come.
There were clouds just now
… where are they now?

White, grey and in between.
Come on rain
Where have you been?

Imagine the smell
When it touches the earth.
A fragrance so profound as
it fills one with mirth.

What could be better?
Than to get drenched
by rain?
Quenching dry earth
and relieving the pain,
of worry,
anxiety
and major disdain.

Dams are waiting.
Buckets are ready.
Tanks should be overflowing
with the rain drops already.

Where are the rain clouds?
They have just gone by!!!

Come back come back
we need you NOW!!!
Don’t go away
as we don’t know how
we will cope
if it doesn’t rain now!
