My Twenty-Two Years

In my twenty-two years
I have never been to college
I have never had a steady job
I've never found a cure for the common cold
I've never invented a much needed gizmo

In my twenty-two years
I have never saved someones life
I have no life long childhood friend
I've never been the popular one
I've never been rich enough for some

But in my twenty-two years

I can say I've made my mother proud
I've got a high school diploma
I have my own poetry published
I have survived this long in this world

In my twenty-two years
I have married my one true love
and most inportant of all
I've made miracles
My two sons

Yellow Rose

A single blooming yellow rose
I thought to care for deeply
more than any other kind
not used to such a beautiful flower
had no clue what to do with it
cut the stem and watch it grow
or somewhat let it die
pluck it's petals one by one
until its last he loves me not
set the stem off to the side
and hope for growth of another one
a second chance to witness beauty
put what happened far behind
this time treat it so caussiously
knowing I might not get a third try
water it newly everyday
somehow keep it alive

A Childs Smile

A childs smile is more precious
than any gift you could ever receive
it's a gift more cherished
than any diamond in the world
because as long as you have their smile
you'll know you're ever alone
all the riches in the world
next to a smile, couldn't hold a flame
Mother Natures most treasured flower
could never bloom the same
they are Gods most precious gift
for He knew they our hearts would lift

Special Children

When a child has been as mean
as you think they could possibly be
and they turn ariound and smile at you
it's loving you can truely see
Working with special children
has shined a light on me
I've nevr smiled so much
or been so frustrated
but when I see them smile
frustration doesn't last as long
They are slow at learning
and sometimes it gets to a point
when you think they'll never learn
but then when they surprise you
it makes you feel all warm
To think you've made a difference
even if it was just one child
it helps me to know why I'm here
and why I'm still trying

So Complete

You are the sunlight
my seed is starving for
You are the music
my wings need to soar
You are the muscle
that makes my love strong
You are the magic
that makes me feel I belong
You are the tiny bubbles
in my bubble bath
You are my tickle bone
that always makes me laugh
You are the lyrics
I need to finish my song
You are the inspiration
I need to continue on
You are the wind
that helps me sail my seas
You are the reason
my life is so complete

This Mother's Day

It's not something
for which you would have to pay
nor take a lot of time to decide
It's not something
I've ever asked from you before
but it will have to come from the heart
It's not something
that's cute
or precious to the eye
It's not a piece of clothing
or something to hang on the wall
no words are needed
but would be appriciated
So when you ask what it is
I want this Mother's Day
my simple request is this
Please take away my anger,
my hurt, my fears,
my sorrow and pain

Relax

shh...

relax for a while
take in the silence
the dark emptiness
regroup all lost thoughts
regain all lost control
be ready to start a new day
fresh from the moment you awake

poof...
silence no more
busy schedule
not enough time to do it all
headaches, migraines
all in a days hard work
yet at the same time
can't help but feel so bored

Portrait

I painted for you a portrait
Of my most romantic dream
Wrapped it in a bed sheet
And hid it behind the cellar stairs
In hopes that you would never look there

It's a picture of us dancing
In a garden you planted just for me
You remembered my favorite flowers
Yellow roses, glorious carnations
In every color of which you could think

I was hoping to give you this one day
Hoped to prove to you in some special way
When I just couldn't find the words to say
I'm still madly in love with you

I guess that means if you're reading this
I'm no longer within your reach
And if there is one thing I need you to know
I am missing you as well

I Found Me

I used to sit desolate
when you found satisfaction
in picking on me

I used to eternally cry
when you said
you didn't love me, really

I used to believe you
when you spoke viciously
wanting to abuse me

I used to

I don't sit desolate anymore
I don't eternally cry because you didn't love me
I don't believe your viciousness meant to abuse me

I don't anymore

I found someone who doesn't elect to abuse me
I found someone who loves me, really
I found someone who I can believe in

I found me

You Are

You are what makes me funny
when in moments I feel so down
You are what makes me bright
when there's a black cloud over town

You are what I am craving
when nothing soothes my hunger
You are what I am missing
when I start to wonder

You are what makes me smile
when the day has been too long
You are what my ears listen for
when I need a cheerful song

You are what makes me rise each morning
when sometimes I feel I can't go on
You are what makes me sleep at night
when the world has gone so wrong

You are what I love in life
You are what is the light of my life
You are what I need in life
You are what is my life
