Wake Up With You

Visions of your beauty dance
Across my dreamy state of mind
Glances of your face are seen
As gently I awake to find

It’s not restricted to a dream
This wonderful vision of love
For opening my eyes I see
The glow of my angel dove

To wake up with you
There’s nothing better
To wake up with you
Heaven must’ve sent her
To wake up with you…please stay forever
To wake up with you…nothing more never

Don’t imagine I’m deluding
My thoughts are strong and clear
This is as real as it can be
As you pull me ever near

I want this to happen always
You say this cannot be so
But I’m right here and now
And I will never let you go

To wake up with you
There’s nothing better
To wake up with you
Heaven must’ve sent her
To wake up with you…please stay forever
To wake up with you…nothing more never

If it all crashes down tomorrow
The painful end is close at hand
There won’t be a single regret
That I lived in this moment grand

Cause to wake up with you
It can’t be any better
To wake up with you
Like you read in a letter
To wake up with you…please stay forever
To wake up with you…nothing more never

That’s all we both ever need
To wake up together, forever…

For a Princess

She makes me not forget
The value of the jewel I hold
Whispering softly to her man
Sometimes I must be told

Her words drip like honey
Making the love so sweet
How do I deserve this?
This could never be my feat

She loves me so open and full
Never holding back a thing
The scepter of her smile
Enthrones me as her king

I know that she deserves better
To live as the princess she is
But I strive to show her daily
My princess this girl 'tis

Tossing the Pearl

Headlong into the sea of love
Down to the bottom I dove
Up out of the murky deep
Came that sparkling trove

I’ll take my chance to see below
Prospecting from the cold deep
Revealing the resident of that pod
Scrap or precious stone to keep

Handle her carefully
Watch out for the swirl
Or you’ll be keeping the oyster
And tossing the pearl

Maybe her beauty will stun me
Be it a sparkle or maybe shine
What really lies beneath it all?
Is it sand or a jewel so fine?

Prying open the calcified case
It reveals such beauty is rare
Perfection on full display
Exquisite and loveliness fair

Handle her carefully
Watch out for the swirl
Or you’ll be keeping the oyster
And tossing the pearl

Wake With You

When I wake with you
To the light of breaking day
Worries and fears pass over
Cause love won’t go astray

Our bodies come together
And harmony binds our soul
Two roaming broken hearts
Can finally be made whole

I want to hold you in my arms
And give you the gift of song
Your warm face to my skin
Nestled in the place we belong

Just to feel your balmy breath
Sweeping across my chest
Run my hand down your arm
Finding you completely at rest

Your stunning body in sunlight
Your golden hair falling askew
Wanting for nothing greater
Than just to wake with you

I Need You Most

There are a thousand other things I should do
But, I just need to tell you how much I need you
I need you when the times are good
And I need you when things get rough
When I think I’ve failed you
And you tell me I’ve succeeded
The many times I say the wrong thing
And then you have the words to lift me up
When my confidence begins to waver
You’re the one who I know believes in me
When my course needs correcting
And my ship is going astray
It’s you I need to keep me going right
It’s your look, your touch, your smile
The words from your heart
Or the kiss from your lips
Those are the things I need the most
When you tell me you need me
Or when you don’t really need me at all
That’s the time I need you most
It’s not saying you love me
But it’s the way you show it everyday
That’s why I need you most

Beautiful Red Bird Creek

Fog rolling through the trees
Like a gray threadbare blanket
Sun rising from the marsh
Like a fire just coming to life

The birds begin an awkward song
That soon finds its harmony
As water drops give a back beat
Geese honk across the sky

My soul has found it salve
In this haven of blissfulness
Just along the golden shores
Of that beautiful Red Bird Creek

Watch Me Go

Watch me go my way
But don’t be sad and cry
My sun is setting early
In the land of long goodbye

When you see me right now
Remember, who I was ain’t who I am
So, I just keep asking myself
Is it a joke or a cruel sham?

The real me is being locked away
In a place even I can’t find
I can’t face the bitter truth
Of leaving you far behind

Watch me go my way
But don’t be sad and cry
My sun is setting early
In the land of long goodbye

The sun is fading into the mountain
And darkness in this life comes fast
But it’s morning in my life to come
And you’ll join me at the last

The bright Light shining on me
I’ll tell you things I couldn’t say
Never again will I forget to know
When I return to you on that day

Watch me go my way
But don’t be sad and cry
My sun is setting early
In the land of long goodbye

No reason to fret or ask why
In this land of long goodbye

On the Edge of Yourself

The way ahead don't look so clear
An unknown path brings you fear
You can't feel nothing but pain
Sunshine is gone, just more rain

Life's true love you won't pervert
Just push back so you can't hurt
Pleasures known so well to you
Now escape your grasp askew

On the edge of yourself
Not a good place to live
On the edge of yourself
With nothing left to give
Walking a fine gray line
Between hope and despair
On the edge of yourself
With little left to spare

On your darkness night
There's still one ray of light
Clearly still shining through
Your man who so loves you

From your pain he won't hide
Loving not just the beautiful side
For he looks deep in your soul
Seeing a princess never old

On the edge of yourself
Not a good place to live
On the edge of yourself
With nothing left to give
Walking a fine gray line
Between hope and despair
On the edge of yourself
Cling to the one who cares

Scene From Coldstream Beach

Some can see it by closing their eyes
But I have to live it just to feel alive
All my senses open to the world
An experience I could not contrive

The crystal shimmers of the water
Dancing toward the sandy shore
White puffs above drifting across
A blue canvas where eagles soar

The aroma of sizzle from a grill
Elicits the tongue a watery reply
Sunlight on the oily summer skin
Tells the nose that season is nigh

The full dram of gin in the juice
Purses the lips; rewards the buds
But the hot grit of blowing sand
To the unsuspecting mouth floods

The clever wind howls a sudden
From across the lake a yell
Older voices speak in a murmur
Younger ones scream to tell

That breeze cools the warm skin
Toes find respite in the earth cool
Leathery hands soften by a caress
Cooled from a dip into the pool

But the scene is not complete
And the story not fully told
Without the woman beside me
For all my senses to behold

Her brown skin perfumed by oil
Her words by libation made fine
Her hand smoothed like velvet
Her lips flavored by sweet wine

With all my senses well intact
I don’t need a beach to thrive
Just close my eyes next to her
And know I’m completely alive

Just Never Knew

Sleep just don’t come easy
Dreams plow through my mind
Trying to escape the chains
Brought on by this old grind

Through the fog I see you
Just like many times before
On the portal of my heart
Love knocking at the door

Just never knew who you were
But you came to me so vivid
I just never knew who you were
Appearing time and again in my dream
Just never knew who you were
A vision that could make me teem
Just never knew who you were

As my head sinks into the pillow
I’m hoping you’ll make a return
For tonight is gonna be different
When I release that old yearn

You’ll walk in through my door
This time the fog fades away
As you sink into my arms
The dream is here to stay

Just never knew who you were
But you came to me so vivid
I just never knew who you were
Appearing time and again in my dream
Just never knew who you were
A vision that could make me teem
Just never knew who you were
