Journey

A knife penetrating through
My layers of sentinels
Mixes the poison
With my blood
Terrorized, lobotomized
I tread the path
Scratching the doors
No one to open
Surrounded by rocks
Bound to be crushed
Vultures pick up the pieces
Spat in disgust
Not hard enough
Could I become

Gleeful Dog

I patted a dog
It looked gleefully at me
All my worries gone

Broken Man

Date: 29/11/2017

Pick Your Topic: Depression and Sadness

In the mirror, I only see a broken man
Troubled not by the world, but by his own
Thoughts from which he forever ran
In the mirror, I only see a broken man

Running wild, escaping into the sea
Of tears hoping the winds of time
Could blow him back to his loving span
In the mirror, I only see a broken man

Tearing the wings of his own soul
To complaisantly walk with the unknown
A journey whose end he didn't plan
In the mirror, I only see a broken man

Now he stands adrift, no path to tread
In the river of despair he drowns knowing
He could do naught but put his life on shelf
In the mirror, I saw my broken self

Blind Bird

Following the herd
A blind bird
Turning away
With every nudge
With every puff
With every tick

An invisible wall
Obscuring the castles
Among the clouds
The endless sky
Lies far away

To its dismay
The birds ahead
Are the birds behind
Trying to see
The endless sky

To find
To unravel
To justify
To demystify
The meaning of their lives

The little bird
Seemingly gay
Witnessing the battles
Of heart and mind
To follow the herd
Or go astray

A cry for help
Confined to the wall
No one to listen
To our little blind bird
Following the herd

Cliff

Cliff

Standing on a cliff, musing on

All I’d ever erred since I was born.

An empty space ahead, conspicuous

Beckoning me with its promise ambitious

I know the tales of this abyss

Self-depreciating in the name of bliss

But maybe, just maybe, I’m different

I won’t be consumed by this grief inherent

Perplexed, I began to spot my options

My next step had to be of caution

Through discerning eyes, I detected

A path with a bridge disconnected

Somewhat rugged, but a path nonetheless

And I could make my due progress

I took my time, let it sink in

A leap was required, to my chagrin

Thought if I stayed put, I’d have nothing to lose

Next thing I knew, I lost my chance to choose

A Lost Cause

Transcending the slender line
Which shields the earth from
The mythical heaven
Or is it hell I’m forced into
How long has it been
Since my breath abandoned me
Why haven’t I seen anyone
Penetrating the mythical shield
Extending their arms
To reach out to me
For it seems like eternity
As I fall into abyss
Expecting to find serenity
Something that could salvage me
From this oppressive misery
From this delirious state I’ve been in
Seeing myself and no other
Unconscious, irreparable, helpless
Cremated to ashes
No one to read the eulogy
A light shone on me
Oh, the helpless me
Unflinching eyes
A woman wailing
Uttering my name
Laying a flower on my grave
Reminiscence of my past struck me
All the things left undone
All the hollow voids to fill
All the wrongs to be done right
Will it subside the pain?
Will this absolution give me solace?
Will this be my only salvation?
Or will I forever be subjected to damnation
In this lamentation
Tears billowed out my eyes
For I knew, oh I knew
The reality, as I fell into the abyss

Me

How far I have come to meet you
Your ambition lies beneath your purview
How have you been, my old friend
Trapped, waiting for this torture to end

Tell me all about yourself, I ask of you
You're hard to trust, I construe
Trust me, for this time I will not deceive you
You can't deceive me, even if you try to

Then tell me who exactly are you
I am what you always knew
Veiled by your complaisant being
I hear you could make the sun rise, and the birds sing

I am no conqueror, I haven’t what you seek
You are the dawn to my perpetual bleak
It’s someone else you fancy, now leave me be
But we are one, can’t you see?

Let’s be together and set you free
Like we have in the past, haven’t we?
In a corner, you left me stranded
It wasn’t me; it was what others demanded

Oblivious I have become of who I was
Let’s find it together for a mutual cause
I will trust you this one last time
And one we shall become, you and I

A Mother's Cry

This is just a dream
Sleep my little child
Don't open your eyes
Heed my advice

This is not the truth
This is just a mirage
Shadows lurking in your room
Are just a facade

Listen to your mother
Please don't open your eyes
You'll be beguiled by others
With their enormity of lies

Why can't you sleep
Can't you hear your mother weep
I won't let your essence
Be taken by corrupt fiends

Oh,
I see you opened your eyes
But it's not too late
Your mother will protect you
Till her last day

A Close Call

Leaf I was that day as curious
As the winds roaring malign so furious
A better life awaits, all glorious
Deprived me of my senses, how spurious

Shuddering, my eyes sparked fire
As my feet choked in the deep mire
The haze got clearer
My life got dearer
The courage that I acquired
I began to retire

What was I?
A cavern to fear Death
Or a gallant to crave new breath

Rainy Day

Drizzling down from irate clouds
Slugging the streets with force
But like a chirpy bird
A joy these sounds enforce

Outside the kids rejoice
As I reminisced my past
How long did those days last
Till these chirps started to sound like noise
