Date: 10/12/17
pick your topic: Heart break and loss
Soldier boy
Where's my kiss?
Are you going to say goodbye with your words
when I'd rather it be with your lips?
You say you'll be back
But how will I Know?
Will you be the same man I fell in love with
When you come home?
Will you be ornated in medals?
Or will you be draped with a flag and encased in oak?
I know there are harder days to come
But this goodbye is more than I can take
I’ll think about you when I close my eyes to sleep
And you'll still be on my mind when I wake
Soldier boy, stupid soldier boy
Didn't you get the hints?
You called me your queen and made me your wife
Of course I carry your prince
You have to make it through
You have to survive, find the will to live
Soldier boy, my soldier boy
What i'd give to get you home
What i'd give!
What i'd give!

Michael Trejo Poem
Take the land whereupon I cannot stand
take the blue below
drain the sea
but you cannot take the sky from me
take my freedom and take my rights
take my soul and take my life
clip my wings and take my eyes
take the wind flowing through my bones
banish me to the beaten road
as I cry and as I die
I might long for a longer life
but as long as you cannot take the sky from me,
you could take the birds and their song
in the place where I belong,
I could die a happy soul
as alive as I'll ever be
you can never take the sky from me

Michael Trejo Poem
There be a time for you and I
that time has come and gone
we were what love wished itself to be
but no more do the birds sing our song
I never thought I dread the day that my love would flee
but out you ran and left me behind,
my love how could you do this to me?
I loved you once,
oh who am I kidding, I love you still
my heart is still your home
how could I ever love again
when I've had a taste of yours
my love please don't leave me to live this life alone

Michael Trejo Poem
Sometimes I lie
I lie about you being on my mind
I try and try but no matter the thought
Thoughts of you always take up my time
your love has always been sweet
And I hate that I can’t make it sour
And I can’t make it tart
Love is priceless and can’t be bought
But you certainly bought my love
and all it cost you was a heart
I try not to let it happen
I know if i fall for you I won’t get up
I always expected to fall in love
I never expected my true love to pick me up

Michael Trejo Poem
What if I could write it all?
What if I could put it in song?
what if our love was a secret?
What If My love for you was felt by all?
What if your love for me went against all that you believed,
Would it still be wrong?
We’re from different worlds
We’re different breeds
The aire you carry yourself with is different from the one I breathe,
But I promise that nothing will tear us apart
you have a piece of me wherever you go,
and I have something of you
ever since we gave each other our hearts,
I promise no matter the distance, no matter how far
You'll always have me with you, you'll never be alone
You know that I love you, you know that I care
Know that i'll never leave you
because life without you would be too much to bear

Michael Trejo Poem
what's mine is yours and yours is mine,
unless you break my heart and leave it a hollow shell,
then what's mine is mine and only mine, and yours is mine as well
