Scarlett Rivers

Scarlet Rivers--by David Lustrup 2016

if you saw my heart tonight
you wouldn't recognize it
trodden trampled torn apart
before i realized it

shredded hanging bleeding
tendons torn and tattered
you were everything to me
you were all that mattered

and now im drowning in this blackness
circling the drain im going down
where is the end to all this madness
this misery is so profound

memories play like movies in my mind
kissing your lips so bittersweet
little short films playing constantly
tear jerkers on repeat

and id give my torn, and tattered heart
for a bright tomorrow, where were not apart
and id sell my last drop, of blood you see
for a single smile, that was meant for me

under star filled skies, in the deep dark night
i remember you, in the pale moonlight
with a million stars, shining in your eyes
how much i loved you, you never realized

as i pull the trigger
as i hit the ground
flashes of your face fly
as lights are dimming down
life is fleeting now
as im bleeding out
let the rivers flow, the rivers flow, scarlet rivers flow now.

Post Mortem

Post Mortem by David Lustrup 2011

Here I lay....dead
Icy ,black, thick blood, motionless in my veins
Yet i see from my eyes.
Numbness, this world of grey.

I hear the sound of birds wings--scratching, fluttering, playing in reverse.
I lay in rigor, the world goes by in scattered frames.
And the sound is out of sync.

Deafening silence. The icy chill in these bladed raindrops.
I feel them hit my naked lifeless body like anvils,
As I lie cold and dead in this freezing grave of your absence.

Nautica

Nautica --By David Lustrup 2012

The moon kisses the sea
With a million points of light
Galaxies in motion
On your surface shine tonight

Your salty water,
An elixir of dreams,
Fluid flowing ether,
Through starlight's glowing beams

Delirium drops and hallucinations,
This gathering of fish, and the crabs, and crustaceans
And all of the beings that live down below,
Enchanted they sway to your ebb and your flow

Gracefully they dance in this briny masquerade
As phosphorescent shrimp light the seaweed promenade
Their gowns flow slowly like serpentine sails
As they dance in moonlight to the song of the whales

Lost

We were lovers on the rolling hills.
we'd been lying in bed and you'd said,
let's lie beneath the stars.

so we'd gathered blankets and pillows,
even though we had enough warmth
on our own in the wintry air.
we were stark naked, all bare skin and love,
and we lay out there under the stars for a long while.
it began to rain and it submerged our skin.
pools of euphoria surround moon glinted eyes

i was cold and i curled up against your body,
ever-warm and ever-mine.
you kissed me, we kissed and i was lost.

Payback City

Payback City
                                         By David Lustrup 2011

Woe unto you who sit in high places
With smug and arrogant looks on your faces
The powers that be,---- they see you do it
The slaves back that bleeds when you put the whip to it.

In comfort you sit, day after day, scorning those who hope and pray.
You’d stab us all if you could, not one would be saved
Then you’d drive home to your mansion on the roads that we paved.

Your life is a cesspool of lofty self love
You think you’re superior
Sent from above
But I know the truth and im not afraid to blare it
You call me insulting but I say
If the shoe fits…
wear it

Woe unto you who have all the wealth
Soon you will lose it when death comes in stealth
And pulls the very life that you so desire
Right out of your chest and consumes you with fire

For that is the day that justice will reign
And youll get a taste of your dished out pain
And YOULL know what its like to get no pity
As YOU pave the roads in hells’ payback city…..

Reunited

starlit night
glow of the moon
october breezes spice the air
as the glow of the fire highlights your hair

spirits circle as embers glow
souls entwined in the nights embrace
my heart i trace on your cheek slow
the magic i feel, when i touch your face

spirits from the past
old as time and rust
we stare reunited
those spirits they are us....

across the oceans of time
between now and then
we meet in the middle
reunited again.....

Nest

i open my nest to you
little graceful bird
my nest and my heart
and all that i am

come rest in this cozy space
up here in the breeze
starlit whisps of wind
flow through our trees

your song so enchanting
i fall into sleep
our cozy nest
sways in the moonlight

euphoric dreams of tomorrow
your cuddled feathers,
warm next to mine
your eyes look at me
all luminous and lovely

Vortex

“Vortex”
By David Lustrup 2012

i see you talking,
but i dont hear the words....
they fall from your face,
like a flock of blackbirds....

flying in the will of the air
with claw and talon slice
laceration of my soul
this punishment my vice..

in a coat of ravens you hide
midnight blackness deep within
devouring me from inside out
from underneath my skin..

midnight sepulcher, void of light
sackcloth, bitter, cold of night
never ending brutal scars,
vortex, vaccume, death of stars.
wave goodbye to light’s last rays,
all consuming, end of days…

Frozen

"Frozen" by David Lustrup 2017

As I stand in the spots, where she once stood..
At the spot where I carved our names in the wood,
I look out into the air, The tears roll down.
Shes not there, in tears I drown.
The pain I feel, has the whole of heaven in breathless silence.
The earth stands still, deathly quiet.
As these pulses of hurt fall from my face to the cold ruthless earth.

Can you not see the light of heaven has dimmed?
Frozen, like the winds in November.
The snowflakes fill the lines where I carved her name.
Joy turns to pain as I remember.

I see her smile and wave in slow motion.
As she fades away.
As I stand in the spots, that she once stood.
At the spot where I carved our names in the wood.

Dark Misery

Dark misery
how you wrap my heart
like a black cat around the leg

waking world thrust back into dream
vaccume un-escapable
i fall backwards
into your dark embace

slowly i sink , deep into your blackness
i feel the air course through my fingers
air rushing around my ears
as i decsend into this mist of tears

burn down my face
lacerations in thier wake
tears like blades
tears of dispair

i reach for the sun
now a tiny point of light
i see it's folly
in this black night

i look up and there you are
eyes hollow as death
you are made of a billion stars
glistening upon your midnight coat
