I Am What I Am

Some men are great others are small
Some are everything others nothing at all
Some do nothing others all they can
As for me I am what I am
Some men are cowardly and run away
Others become heroes by dying when they stay
Some give and some take from off the land
But for me I am what I am
Some men live and some of them die
Some men laugh while others cry
Some are full of life and love without no other man
And so I say I am what I am
Memories of a love long gone past
That made my life wonderful and my heart beat fast
Are all gone to this day when away she ran
And now I am what I am

Lost Love

She stood there on the lonely beach looking out to sea
With the wind blowing through her hair she turned to look at me
Her eyes were a deep dark blue like that of the sea
They seemed to penetrate and search the soul inside of me
When she spoke her voice fell so softly on the air
While the winds seemed to scatter the words everywhere
The sun seemed to dim so as not to harm her in any way
As the sunrise gave forth from night to day
But she was crying and there were teardrops on the sand
For her love had been killed the night before in some foreign land
She remembered their first date and their first kiss
She remembered when he had to leave and how much he would be missed
She wanted to hold him so very, very close again
And hope that it would ease some of this pain
But she knew that he was gone for he died yesterday
So she put his memory in the back of her mind and walked away
He is dead but she carries a life
For my daughter was his loving wife

Memories of Time

As I walk through the fertile valleys of my mind
Memories of your love come to me from a past time
Dreams of visions that we once had
Soon faded away and then went bad
We felt a love for each other that sang a song
Then you left me and things went wrong
You had your wings and wanted to fly
But you forgot about me as I slowly began to die
You didn't seem to want to fly very far away
I think with me you really wanted to stay
But the call of freedom was so very strong
I knew if I held you it would be wrong
So all I can really say is that I love you
But for me I know I can never expect you to
So I just walk the valleys of my mind
Searching out love memories of our past time
