The End

The End.

I am gone
From this game that you think I don't see
I am done
With the ludicrous lies that you feed
I am here
Wondering why you would call me a friend
I am sure
you will lose at this game in the end.

The Wrong One

The Wrong One

He leaves a trace of himself in my bed,
He lives and moves daily about in my head,
A transient soul I thought he would be,
But instead he's ingrained in the fabric of me.

A stolen kiss from this thief in the night,
His hold on me, gripping me ever so tight,
Not before have I met with such skill and affection,
And in the next breath he can wreak such destruction.

A shadow he lurks and looms all around,
He makes me feel lost and makes me feel found,
He is all and then nothing in the beat of a heart,
The win at the end, the race at the start.
To me he's my lover, and most unique friend,
But to him I am less and will be to the end,
At times I tire with his endless games,
I know his type by several names.

They come with their promise and their lips that lie,
Hijacking my mind as their gaze holds my eye.
I thought he was different, a class of his own,
Oh how I'm mistaken, he is the wrong One.

The Cloak of Scars

The Cloak of Scars

What shall I wear today? She thought
Instead of my heart on my sleeve..
I'll wrap myself up and hide away
That may bring some reprieve,

From the relentless feeling of pieces of me,
Being taken and never returned.
Play with fire, her inner voice said,
And only expect to be burned,

flames that caress with a devious twist
Sparks masquerading as stars,
Her outfit designed by destiny,
A tattooed heart and cloak of scars

For Grandma

For Grandma...

It's been so long but here we are
We finally made it home.
How do we thank your for our dad,
When maybe you've always known?

It's like you've always been everywhere,
In all the things that we do,
The stories of all the love you gave,
Shine through black and white pictures of you...

Like the missing piece of a puzzle
But always knowing where it is,
Or the special secret ingredient
That's always on your list...

A smell that provokes a memory
Of something you can't quite recall,
Your favourite song on the radio
That you never heard at all...

The face that you see in those that you love,
But one you never have met,
Because time took you away from them,
But look at what you have left...

Hearts full of love and homes filled with us,
All here because you gave life,
What we all wouldn't give for one more chance,
To go back and make things all right.

We leave you these words, as we go on with our days,
But know that we'll never forget,
The riches you gave us, grandma,
The familiar and those not yet met xx

Not My Storm

Not my storm

What a storm that was, raging, so electric and bright,
The crash of the thunder split day from the night,
The drama unfolding, an inch from my head,
As I lay there and watched from the warmth of my bed.
And as sleep took me again into dreams,
The roll of the thunder still cracked the sky's seams,
In the distance it rumbled and bumped the horizon,
While the flashes of colours switched the days lights on.
How nice for a change, that storm wasn't mine,
As it drifted away and I laid there and smiled

Be Gone

Be Gone..

How dare you wreak havoc on our streets again,
Your fight with no cause is one you won't win!
Spilling more blood won't make us afraid,
If you know us at all, then you know we are staid
The heart of our city bangs your name as it beats,
'Coward' it shouts as you fall from your feet.
Demons before you we've battled and won,
Pack up your madness and guns and be gone.

Those In Between Days

It’s the in between days
When I’m miles from your face
And I can’t hold you tight in my arms

The suns not as bright
And things are not right
I just need to be where you are

My whole body aches
My hearts full of breaks
I need you to walk through the door

I’m lucky I guess
That I have you to miss
I have never loved anyone more
