Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
time has told
as days grow old
either shy or bold
people's hands unfold
to show who they really are
and some are left with scars
some belong behind prison bars
others gaze and meditate towards the stars
nothing is new under the sun
for I can't be the only one
that has come undone
putting myself back together just wasn't fun
putting together the pieces
of a game that never ceases
if only the wicked way eases
and at last justice releases
time has told
as if souls have been sold
perhaps it was for silver or gold
or the hearts and minds grew ever so cold
it was not that my eyes were shut
it was anything but
for I saw something coming; but exactly what?
laying in wait for me to turn around and then they cut
ocean deep betrayal
New York Times bestseller fictional portrayal
slander on a grandiose scale unveil
fish stories and tall tales
ugliness galore on the inside
spewing over so it doesn't hide
no longer will I let it slide
no longer will I join them for a ride
time has told
secrets behold
where is the loyalty of old?
now like a kindled fire gone cold
what happened to all of us?
all the arguing and making a fuss
and you did what you did because?
how can you expect things to be what was?
before
no more
what has happened; has happened sore
again; it will be no more
never again
never again
never again
you were supposed to be my friend
but time has told...

Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
The song of a madman
how shall I sing
when I do not know what the day will bring
tossed to and fro
which way will I go
who would have thought
who would have dreamed
that everything that happened before
hadn't happened as it seemed
and to know or not know
pains my soul
but in the storm I will dance
each day brings a second chance
to prove the doctor's prognosis wrong
so I have to sing my song:
the song of a madman

Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
Touched with madness
joy and sadness
ups and downs
smiles and frowns
held against your will
and even still
the force inside
still abides
so howl at the moon
crazy as a loon
this I know
unfortunately so
and then comes the darkness
the opposite of bliss
who would have thought
who would have dreamed
that everything that happened before
hadn't happened as it seemed

Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
stay off the ground
and live in lost beautiful sound
up in the clouds above
waiting and watching hummingbirds and doves
fairy tales roaming through my mind
stories like no other kind
can't see the forest for the trees
can't see what's in front of me because of this disease
but somehow I press on
and live everyday once upon
lost in my own head
rather live there than earth instead
meandering through my thoughts
some of which I've already forgot
because they go so fast
and somehow I can recall parts of the past
and it pains me
and I wish to be free
so I try to stay off the ground
and let grace abound
the odd man out
pacing about
the only time I dream is during the day
for that is the only way
to dream a dream
rather than to scream a scream
and look up high
into the azure sky
into the fiery sun
until the day is done
and do it over and over again
breathe; begin
morning calls after the howling of moonlight's end

Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
and when the earth burns beneath the sun
the end is just the beginning and the day's end is done
those left behind
of the naysayer kind
but believers too
who thought they knew
but fell by the wayside
the ebb and flow of the tide inside their lives
those meandering
not trying Word understanding
"seek and ye shall find"
unfortunately, not everyone is kind
it is not us or the stars in the sky;
it is not for us to figure out why
simply as it is as a child should know
and the little ones' spirits we should follow
oh, Jesus take me with you
I know you know: how bad I want you to

Mark Daniel Schnell Poem
I woke up this morning
whether it's raining or pouring
above the storm clouds
the eagles are soaring
looking to the heavens above
waiting for unconditional love
and each and every day
if we get to say:
"I woke up this morning,"
we have a purpose to serve
with grace and mercy we may not deserve
but it is a gift from above
flight from a descending dove
we may be tired at times
with or without reasons or rhymes
but trudge on my friend
even when you cannot see the end
because you woke up this morning
