Avi Maryles Poem
the knife was my only friend
we would have dates on my wrist
and it would leave scars as memories
he had a friend called depression
he gave me a bottle of pills as a present
he said the present would make me feel better
they knew someone named loneliness
he said he would be my friend
until he left
then i met love
she made everyone go away
she was my real friend
sometimes my friends would visit
but they wouldn't stay long
for i didn't need them anymore

We move like the waves of the ocean
We move so smooth
And high
Until we crash
When the wave hits land
It has nothing more to live for
It has been soaked up by the sand
It has been stepped on
By the feet of the happy children
It has gone deeper than the depths of the sand
Just barely reaching hell
But not falling into the pit of fire
But right as it starts dripping
Into the hands of the devil
It remembers what life was like
Before it crashed into the land
