Endurance

Here comes the snow,
Once beautiful, 'tis now our foe.
Here comes the gale,
Bringing with it ice and hail.

Farewell to the house and field,
To impotence we all shall yield.
And weak, we kneel before the storm,
longing to sleep, to finally be warm.

The sky is dark, all day, all night,
As we go on, a crawling flight.
For rescue seems just so obscure,
How much more can we endure?

Elvish Spring

The smell of Springtime's in the air!
Flower spring up bright and fair!
Soft and moist the green grass grows,
And close nearby the river flows!

The sky above is bright and blue!
The ground is glittering with dew!
Now come and join us as we sing,
There's nothing like the joy of Spring!

True Love

My one true love is the ocean
I love it's smell and colour
I long to see it just once more
Ages ago i stood there
Out on the sandy shores
The wind blew my hair
Shells and rocks speckled the sand
I wish to go back, but i can't
I'm landlocked now
And I can never swim
I just want to go back again
My home is supposed to be my house
But I don't feel at home here
My one true home is the ocean
My one true love is the ocean
But I will never see it again
I long to run away until I reach the coast
I want to fly until I find the sea
I can't bring myself to smile 'till i reach it
What is wrong with me?
Why can't i live and love until I'm there?
Why am I so tortured by this small thing?
Why am I in so much pain becuase of this?
In my dreams i feel the breeze
And hear the roaring waves
I smell that salt that's in the air
I feel the water 'neath my feet
And i see it's beauty
Light blue waves splash onto the sand
Seashells glitter in the sun
Fish glide through the water
Seaweed brushes across the waves
The shimmering waves surge onto the sand
Effortlessly shaping it
Washing away the evidence of human life
My one true love is the ocean
That's what it will always be.

I Read and I Hope

Beautiful, her hull,
Dark against the blinding snow.
The picture intrigues me.
This little ship from long ago.
I hold her story in my hands,
And I read.

My classmates read with me,
But they do not share my joy,
Curiosity, exuberance, excitement.
They do not understand the story,
Unraveling before us.
And I wish.

I am drawn to the ocean, the ice, the snow.
Adventures pop into my head.
I want to be there, in the cold.
Want to be known, in ages far from now.
But this is not the age of explorers, everything is already found.
And I cry.

I close the book,
Finished with her tale.
And I read,
And I wish
And I cry.

And now, i set off to the snow,
To destiny,
I know i will do something great,
They tell me so.
They, who have gone through so much.
They are wise, and strong.

A lonely girl,
A lonely world.
And I read,
And I wish,
And I cry.

And then...
I Hope.
