Refugee - the Refugeless

Refugee - the refugeless!

Belonged somewhere sometime,
to relate with, in space and time;
Uprooted, evicted or torn asunder,
circumstances induced mindless plunder!

Giving up all that once belonged,
alien and distant shores we thronged!
Dangers abound on the ruthless trip,
false promises made to safely ship!

Causes aplenty for me, to set-off,
on journey - any human would scoff!
My body ain't mine, till I reach,
my life at mercy of a blood sucking leech!

No tears to shed or a way to tread,
wandered in seas and land for bread.
Befriended death, 'the trustworthy',
who often checked, if I was 'seaworthy'!

Wet and tired from within too - my state,
at an alien shore, extended souls berate!
Herded at their will, coerced to spill,
tired of being treated like cattle!

Some of me was just a few months old
and was expected to do just as I was told!
In this measurable space in which I roll,
Life loses to life and Soul loses out to soul!

Alone - Yet a Continuum

Haiku - a thought provoking bunch!

Alone - yet a continuum...!

In this universe,
alone - yet a continuum,
woven - warp and weft!

Mind always rakes up,
our ego that awaits, takes-up,
blatant differences!

No thing and nothing,
ever in isolation, connect,
with all - resurrect!

Find that in you - where,
oneness from deep within surge,
ahead - where all merge!

Search For Health

Search for health!

Hospitals all over,
tablets and pills to cover,
'People' - where is health?

Flowing River - I Became

Flowing river - I became...!

'O' friend! you stood your ground, a rock in the riverbed;
sauntered, stuttered, stumbled and stopped for good.
I transformed, into waters and became one in one with it,
a flowing river, discovered myself, perfectly fit - well knit!

I meandered, I ran and I strode over - moved on and on;
flowed under, down the falls - continuing in ways shown!
Ran down the slopes, cleaving and causing a deep gorge;
breaching walls - attempts persistently made to dislodge!

Moved on mingling and manoeuvring, just unstoppable,
I refused to, when all around me - anxiety was palpable!
The Sun quenched it's thirst from me - I just vaporised;
and the heavens poured in more, never felt pressurised!

The earth and it's offsprings - gulped in greed and tore!
as ever, always keeping only their needs alone in fore.
Breaking the barriers many a times - making new ways,
left it for time to decide, as I went by, in the way it paves!

Rode rough and shoddy rides - scarring deeper below,
took it in the stride - as it definitely did help me mellow!
Whenever, I was cornered or caught - I turned a puddle,
I was a breeding ground for many a questionable riddle!

I'm that flowing waters and I choose to be one - you see!
have none else but me to fend for and to set myself free!
There were other buried rocks - often surfaced aground,
'stumbling' - time to skirt around or go over that mound!

Some had dug deeper, some rolled along for a short while,
brushing all aside, I scattered them - didn't let any to pile!
Those that rolled on, turned pebble - chose a different path,
stayed on longer to see various shades of seasons' wrath!

Rotund, smooth, even glossy as they changed their shape,
displaying colour and texture - a beauty that left us agape!
Did all roughing-up and knocks make it harder at the core,
as it eroded and corroded - taking forms that we all adore?

Some cracked and broke with fragments thrown all around,
resisting every change, will remain embedded - thus bound!
I shall stay course, find or make my own to set myself free,
as I'm that flowing river - that will make way to reach my Sea!

Spare the Noose - Let One Live

Spare the noose - let one live!

Just moments and life's gone,
for the lives one hack
and for it never to come back!
Isn't justice flawed with 'glee' to adorn?

The noose has a strong say
and so do the bullet!
Can one take a call with ballet,
to snatch a beautiful life away?

So easy to take than to give -
easy to take a tooth for a tooth
and eye for an eye ! Won't it soothe,
to keep a person alive?

If a single person's decision
that took life is wrong,
so, will be - a collective throng!
Can justice be seen in 'retaliation'?

Civilisations claim to civilise -
by deliberately inflicting pain
and causing agony only to gain!
How is it an attempt to harmonise?

Taking life by force in a system,
meticulously planned
and with the gallows manned -
Who rests authority for any such dictum?

Rules are guidelines laid by the man,
for the man - for humanity to steer,
itself to sheer and for some to fear!
Gives no right to kill - ain't it time to ban?

And how qualified, a Judge,
to ascertain the quantum?
Doesn't outcomes of a post-mortem,
reveal their susceptibility to fudge?

What is travesty, if this is not?
In a civil world with respect for life,
survival - a day-to-day strife!
Isn't this for sure - an ugly face of human rot?

Life formed is by its own will,
from Life by life's own choice,
and not by any fancy voice!
Why plague it with collective ill?

Look at corrective steps instead,
even incarceration till death,
or community service till end cometh!
Kill for a kill will only make hatred spread!

Executing executions even on ones own self,
when all the wrongs to right with might,
fall flat on the face and not worth a fight!
Won't condoning surge from deep within the 'Self'?

Find space in thy heart to forgive!
Religion that imparts killing as a tool,
of course paves way to 'paradise for a fool'!
Can't retributive justice be seen by letting one live?

When a Tree Is Felled

When a tree is felled....!

When a tree is felled, a sad ring of deathknell,
With it goes for many - their tiny places to dwell!
How much of Earth will man's greed consume ?
Very many forms discovered by him to subsume;
Bottomless appetite you expect to satiate,
And his thoughts so contrive only to ingratiate!

Every stroke of the axe and gnaw of the saw,
Spells doom at the hands of that ominous paw!
Aren't trees - balancing poles protecting this rock,
From heat and for rains during this tightrope walk!
Uses varied and very many by their sheer presence,
Must stop felling them under all and any pretense!

Trees exhale precious oxygen that built many a life,
Inhaling noxious gases produced by man, 'oh' in rife!
Varieties of food they provide on which we live on,
Yet, Ungrateful as ever, we cut now to later bemoan.
Self will of a man cull them, falsely claiming strife,
It is his own string of life that he cuts with a knife.

Takes decades for them to grow in size and stature;
Only a few minutes for us to dismiss and forfeiture!
What right and authority is human vested with?
When superiority he claims is only a blind eye myth!
Inter-woven life is obfuscated to meet his own end,
Obliterating efforts of good men, yet many refusing to mend.

Trees are the source for basics - food, water and shelter;
Man strikes at the root, leaving no room in time to alter!
Enough has been done in the last twenty odd decades,
Showing man's true colours against visible facades.
If it is an event where man is pitted against another man,
Spares nothing - hook or crook, for his way alone to span!

Preternatural tendency of man alone to strive,
Killing, 'spirit of co-existence' in which all life jive!
Warp and weft in whole in which trees are essentials,
Warp and woof - why man ignores their credentials!
Claiming to be highly evolved, will just not suffice,
Spirit of 'live and let live' - make this heaven's orifice!

Soul - An Outcast

Soul - an outcast ?

Soul is an outcast beneath this sheath,
seldom surfacing from right underneath!
Stoic as ever at the on-going spectacle;
intervening wisdom - ever expecting a miracle.
Apprehended and obsessed to thrills that dissipate;
oblivious to the fact that it is the mind that create!
Incarcerated for lives in the past and used to living beneath,
indeed the Soul is an outcast Being beneath the sheath.

Vagaries of thoughts and mind that is given in to - 'oh mate'!
innumerable routes of torments that we take it through and subjugate.
Intoxicated with acquired vices and scruples galore;
will it ever swim across to see the coast in any yore ?
Attempts to flush the Spirit out with spirits will only make it flee;
Nay can you smoke the Soul out like you do the bee!
It will slip out unannounced - thence your time for your last wreathe,
of course the Soul is an outcast, deep down below the sheath!

Find an anchor with nature and character that is debonaire,
to steer through the plicatures and help contemplate on that abstract 'Solitaire'!
Other modes of journey in music, art or any rhythm - for that wisdom,
be pursued with focus and passion to swap for that -  ever reverent freedom!
Fleeting time passeth every moment - never to return,
emasculate in vision and mission - looming large and threaten!
Emancipation from all bonds I seek before I finally breathe!
Alas, for my Soul that is an outcast in my own sheath!

Cleanse, To Plant 'A Seed of Virtue'

Cleanse - To plant 'A Seed of Virtue'...!

Cleanse my mind, cleanse my heart
and cleanse my thought I pray;
seething anger, insatiable desire
and pangs of fear way-lay!

Easy prey for stimulant, that prowls
for a hunt and looks out to vent;
feeds on from incubates in the mind,
held by an incidental stent!

Feelings follow thoughts without a barrier,
like fire and heat awaiting a pyre;
to drag me down, scuffle with me to drown -
deep into awaiting quagmire!

Stuttering words spew venom on,
maybe in offence or in defence;
sequel to inward feeling in a spurt,
finding no way to renounce.

After what is told and heard comes action,
all without knowing - true notion;
waxing and waning emotions, only herding,
mind and intellect to utter commotion!

Does it matter to look at cause and effect,
as a 'dent' done once is done forever;
chinks tinkered, brought back to course -
visible and invisible scars - be guised never!

Repentance may dawn on own guilt - haunt
and later steer towards an apology;
but, the heart and mind of the victim
though has distanced itself beyond 'apogee'!

Sure to help if the thought is reigned,
curbed well or changed in course;
asserted and affirmed on a positive note
will not head-on to anything so coarse!

Plant the seed of virtue in thought and see it
transcend in nature - to boast and hold a toast;
it always does a lot of good to remember the dictum
that "anger first consumes the host"!

Take a leap from stack!

Rhythm of Life

"Rhythm of life"

Seed of life - in love and in lust - planted  in the womb;
breeds, broods and grooms for it's  way to the tomb!
Soothing froth to count on the way to tickle;
losing one's Self - in it's nature so fickle.

Not far away is anyone from that last walk;
no gender, no creed and no status for it to stalk!
Mark your bearer with good deeds of honour;
for everything  is yearning in us for it to corner!

We sure don't like it and don't cherish the thought;
In time and space, every moment we fought!
Seeking more in all and from all -  for all and for ever;
discursive and digressive, but on that thought we do quiver!

We grab in a hurry and greed for all  matter and pride;
ephemeral are those needs and just moments away from slide!
Relish and savour in this vastness - here and beyond;
Remember a speck that we are and  will be long since gone!
