Kiss of Lies

Tracing my fingers on his lips
I knew they told me lies,
I kissed them anyway
I had loved the way love tastes...
Fingers intertwined in mine,
He said he was mine,
He sealed it with another kiss,
A kiss of lies
Lay beside me
Reminiscing
On our highs and lows,
And the years that passed us by- so slow
My eyes told him i loved him
The pained expression in his
Told me he didn’t feel the same way.
Kiss of lies
Trying to change
What evidently lies
Ahead.
I tried to memorize
How his face felt under my hands
And his posture when he stands
I tried to etch
His scent onto mine
Grasping at anything that would
Keep us close,
Frantically trying
Because i wanted him to feel the same way
I wanted him to stay,
My heart knew overtime
That something had changed
Kiss of lies
In the life
He had promised me
Even when he knew he’d leave
Kiss of lies
He didn’t love me
He just wanted use me
One last time
Before he said goodbye
Kiss of lies
On his tongue
That promised me the world,
And had me believing in
Fairytale scenes
And things made up in our dreams,
Like “I love you” and “i do’s”
With tiny hands
That symbolized
The depth of love shared.
Kiss of lies
That played across his lips
In soft whispers
And internal tears,
I refused to be
Driven by fear;
Not this time,
Love WOULD be my lifeline...
He leaned in close,
Brushed his lips against mine,
Promised that he’ll always be mine
He said it all with a smile
And his
Kiss of lies

The Gates of Beauty

The gates of beauty
Lies
Behind the eyes that cry
But outwardly smile
Glisten eyed
With tears
And highlighted by fears
We hold within them.
The gates of beauty
Lies within the heart you hold
Behind built up walls,
Where your heartbeat drawls
And is suffocated inside.
You keep it confined;
Safe inside.
The gates of beauty
Lies within your mind,
Hidden behind
A cacophony of voices,
They're boisterous!
Degrading your dreams,
They scream
At the absurdity of your open mind,
That runs so wild
And accuse it of being child-like...
The gates of beauty
Lies behind eyes;
From which the heart speaks
And the mind seeks
But your thoughts creep
And your heart leaps,
So you choose to keep
The beauty inside
And call it
The beauty that hides

Your Absence

i felt the emptiness of missing you in the depths of my soul
the hollowness became more evident when my heart said your name
and my heart didn’t beat the same.
I weighed the options of letting the emptiness consume me
because i know this is a feeling that’s never going to leave me.
My Father and my Friend
i miss our conversations that never seemed to end
If only you knew
how much i really did love you
would you have chosen to stay?
would You have fought to see another day?
Would it have mattered if i had to say
I want you stay?
 heart breaks
when i hear your name or your song
days seem endless and everything feels wrong
my number one fan
my Dad
I’ll never have the privilege
of saying “Dad’ again
the pain-
from knowing how true that is
nothing will ever make you come back;
not even a wish.
i felt the emptiness of missing you in my soul
it became evident when i heard echoes
when i said your name
and my heart didn’t beat the same.

Slow Down

Slow down
The days are moving too fast
And the memories don’t seem to last
Long enough for me
To take them in
Slow down
I need you right now,
Your presence slowly fading away,
I want you to stay
I need you to slow down
I know you have to leave
But
Can’t you come back for a little longer?
Let’s have one more conversation,
Then maybe...
Maybe I’ll let you go
Hesitation...
Slow down
Your voice echoes in my heart
In the background of my soul
I try not to make a sound
So for a moment i feel whole
I need to hear your voice
One last time
After that
I’ll try to be fine
But there’s never really a
“One last time”
I swear i tried
To be as strong as you
Wanted me to be
Even when it becomes hard to breathe
I breathe
Slow down
Why are you in such a hurry to leave?
Stay strong, hold on, and just breathe
Please slow down
Don’t walk away from me
You’re the father i need
And besides
You promised you’d never leave
That’s what you made me believe
Slow down;
Daddy just slow down

Sunset Breeze

Sunset breeze
My spirit is at ease
When you’re around.
The warmth of the wind
Against my skin
Lets me know that i can still feel.
Sunset breeze
My spirit is at ease
When you’re near me
Please don’t ever leave
Sunset breeze.

Starry Eyed Child

Starry eyed child
How your dreams run wild
Like fire; blazing.
Starry eyed child
How you yearn for more
Than this world has to offer,
Maybe to be a little softer?
Starry eyed child
Blinded
By your failures,
You give up,
You’ve had it rough
But
Starry eyed child
There’s always light in darkness
Like starry night skies
Starry eyed child.

Love Me Tender

Love me tender
With sweet hello’s and
Unforgettable goodbyes.
Love me tender,
Never tell me lies and
Let’s gaze at moonlit skies
Love me tender
On the worst of days
Love me tender
And no other way

Lonliness

It creeps in when you least expect it
Tearing you apart- bit by bit
And all you’re left with are
The echoes of the walls
But you’re just looking for a place to belong...
Loneliness
Something so empty can
Consume so much of who you are
And everyone is so close
Yet so far...
Loneliness.

Chasing You

Chasing you
In my dreams
Chasing you
And i can hardly reach.
Chasing you
In reality
Chasing you
And i can barely breathe
Chasing you
But you want to leave

I Am My Mother's Child

I am My Mother’s Child,
Knitted in her womb,
I form part of your being,
So when you’re rejecting me
You’re rejecting you too
Because i am partly a reflection of you
Half of me is half of you
I am My Mother’s Child
