The Smell of Earth After Rain

I
Being me
Petrichor
Do unto me,
What many can not

Yearning within me are
Inordinate volumes in
Desiring whispers of happiness.

Nevertheless, people question me
Challenging my identity.
I cry out! For I shall always be me.

Innocence

Innocence of you, make me love you
But you know that I can't go on this way
For I am troubled by my own runway
Trying to keep up the fan club

People tell me you...are too good
I know that I am just a dunderhead
Who's got fame and the good looks
But, you my baby you are too good
For this hot and popular dunderhead
Goes on...keeps on...loving you....

Innocence of you, make me love you
You simply go on being my happy you
When I put up a big show on the broadway
You simply smile and shy away

Innocence of you, makes me wanna leave you
Cos you simply go on being you
But darling I just can't handle it anymore
All I would do is leave you and love you more

Survival of the Fittest

Emptiness thrives
Boredom conquers
Anxiety settles in
I enter the rat race

Women

When I joined in...
They said that I was tough
and life in the barracks are tough
So I decided that I will be tough
Tough as a rock
No interference of sentiments, emotions
What so ever...

I dreamt of moonlit nights in the mountains
I wished to snuggle under the quilt of my mom for warmth
I heard voices of my past and my future
YET, I was tough not to give up or not to give in...

One evening, on a freezing winter
We advanced towards a village where
A Human shield was curtaining the enemy
There were shells, canons and blood all over
And of course, I was tough...tough as they wanted me to be

I saw a pair of blue eyes hugging a ragged doll
Covered from dust, cement and blotches of blood
May be from someone who was shot, just then
But the blue eyes were alive,
though welled in tears...

I stepped closer...the eyes became a face, then a pair of soft hands
And a short pair of legs, a little girl in tattered clothing
I stood there frozen and being tough
Yet the blue eyes came towards me
And grabbed my legs tight and started sobbing out loud calling me "mammy"
I stood there...immobile
but I screamed and screamed
With no tears but from pain, anger and EMOTION.

My Eyes Bleed

When you don’t understand me
When you care less
And When you ignore me…

When you have no time
When you don’t hear me
And when you raise your voice…

MY EYES BLEED…
YES! They do
THEY BLEED WITH TEARS!

Meandering

I worked very hard
I worked harder than I thought
Day in and out

Tingling Effect

Yes, thoughts of you
make me feel
Tingling effect
In my entire being

It’s like water bubbling
It’s like a tiny bell ringing
Sometimes a tiny chime
Trying to create presence…
Presence of something
Indescribable,
Simply a tingling effect!

Affection

Well, it is not love
Neither is it generosity
It’s a feeling beyond…

Affection, I say
Is a feeling beyond…
Beyond all we know

It’s a feeling
A feeling of respect
A feeling of greatest care

Online Meeting

Online meeting

They are easy and convenient, some say,
They are cumbersome, I say,

The struggle to get up and be on time: still there,
The struggle to look good and professional: yes, it’s there,
The worst is to sound serious and engaged.
When the family is tip toeing around flashing wry smiles.
Each second is an hour!

On video, I become conscious of how old I have become:
The pain of looking tired, the pain of being tired - immense and they,
Take over all other powers of reasoning.
Yet, I try to sound interested and even crack a joke saying that it all ended too soon.

After the meeting, I am directly transferred to a setting where expectations of the family flying high.
They have been waiting just as much I did, for my meeting to end
But none of them want to hear what happened at the meeting
So, they avoid the discussion like plague
I am stuck in between two worlds.
The online work is convenient, some say
They are cumbersome, I say!

Happiness

Instigated by living
Tired with what everyone does
Everyday, I cast my memory
To the times of happiness

All I canremember is the best smile
I have ever seen
Innocent and genuine
To the hearts core

I cling on to your hand
Tip toeing to look tall
I hold your hand again
My hero, my appachchi
