There Are Days When

The time seems to wander, languishing here and there, jealous of the wind.
Sometimes it flies, to almost find it's end, even when you have barely started.
The terrible ones, they seem to standstill, so you can live them for a lifetime.
The boring ones, are not appreciated, yet can be missed on those wild rides.
The day listens, to no man or woman, it knows well what to surprise us with.
There are a few, in everyone's life, that will be remembered, that have no equal.
When all the luck, works its magic, to lift the spirits high, and love comes to call.
There are days when, we fly too close to the sun, that melts wings made of wax.
Some are breathtaking, when death is standing near, but it's just not your time.
The guardian angels, swoop low to carry away that day, that took a piece of you.
Every single day, we should live as our last, for each is the gift of a jealous god.
There are the nights, that follow the day, when the gods dream, of being a man.
And all of the days, when misfortune arrives, and you cry the whole night away.
Then comes that one day, you won't survive, when you pray for just one more.
And all that's left, is to drift off and relive the ones, you wished would never end!

The Big Top

When I was young, I wanted to run away to the circus. Then one day I realized the circus was life! Are we not the clown, the strongman, the freak, the daredevil? Is there not personal sorrow and the desperate search for pleasure? The flying trapeze man and woman are in love, and every performance, they risk the breaking of their heart. When one almost falls to their death, the audience cries out, and then claps even louder! The freak show is hidden in the back, though its location is well known to local politicians. Then to play the games on the midway, with its crooked carnies, rigged set ups, and worldly women. The city is 'the big top', its chaotic gyrations and jaded excitements, all part of the show. The grandstands are filled with 'television head' people, buzzing with excitement. See the eye of the tiger, hear the trumpet of that greatest of beasts, cowl at the jungle kings exclamation! Later that night, a young boy lying in bed, wonders if it was just a dream. Then, far off in the distance, a whispering growl was heard!

The Legacy of Life

The leap of joy,
the tears of loss.

Darkness meets the light,
the weight of the cross.

Eyes brace the brightness,
peeking through fingers.

The exciting rush,
that sweetly lingers.

The stand of goodness,
the glow of the moon.

The rise of the dawn,
we brave our own doom.

The legacy of life,
pictures of smiles.

Living memories,
of the endless miles.

Eyes raised to the stars,
and we are lifted.

now I understand,
we have been gifted.

The man made of clay,
behind a late sky.

The form falls away,
and the spirit fly!

The Pride of Summer Comes Before the Fall

The Fall is a time of deep reflection,
one for a yearly self introspection.
When we see the trees change their attire,
from the shades of green to autumn fire.

Each year we grow a little bit older,
as the world becomes a little colder.
To know we have come closer to our death,
when a sigh is changed to a frosty breath.

The pride of summer comes before the fall,
when the lighter threads turn to woolen shawl.
All of creation must accept this fate,
and all must prepare when the time is late.

Then warm in our beds we'll drift off to sleep,
and a god that cares our spirit will keep!

The Dream of the Butterfly

He dreamed he could fly on gossamer wings,
and understands now why the sparrow sings.
It all seemed so real he never thought twice,
that a joy like that would come with a price.

He thought to himself I'm living the dream,
but what are the costs that are left unseen?
Could the butterfly be dreaming of me,
or somebody else dreaming all three?

People walk around as if they were blind,
to refuse to see is the darkest kind!
Others wear glasses the color of rose,
and refuse to see in front of their nose.

Then there are a few that you can't believe,
who can make magic nothing up their sleeve.
The world is yours take it in your hand,
every empire will turn back to sand.

Every emperor that has been so far,
is now just a name they gave to a star.
This place they call Earth is a mystery,
so live your dreams and let your soul run free!

Shadow In the Sun

Here there are deserts,
some of sand and sun.
Love can be barren,
like a deal undone.

An oath is given,
fingers wearing gold.
There's no taking back,
a heart that's been sold.

Rise above hardships,
you were meant to be.
A sailboat called love,
on an endless sea.

When two stand as one,
shadow in the sun.

There's No Place Like Home

The beings we are, conjured as such, from the dust of stars, live in a mystery of the mind. Forgetting who we are, we call out orders, like a sea captain, staring into the future, with far away eyes. The crew and good ship, sail the endless ocean of life, where the seaweed of sin, can trap them in still and dead waters. The wraiths of sailors, haunt the empty decks, where the wind teases the tattered sails. Their lonely cries, like the calls of seabirds, echo across the morning mist, for the wanderers fear, is to die far from loved ones, where the stars cry tears, that streak across the sky. There is no place like home, where those who know and understand you, drink a toast to loves' reunion!
