Little White Ball

Many say it's a crazy game
Golf is the name
Give it your all
Hit the white ball

Clubs, bags, holes, flags come into play
Throughout the day
All yelling "fore"
Trying to score

Hit it long and straight is the aim
No simple game
Into the hole
White ball must roll!

The King

The world of golf lost a legend
Class, un-questioned
He was just Arnie
And had an army

Hard-charging was always his style
Made people smile
Golf's first real star
He set the bar

Winning was how he changed the game
Greatness, his claim
He had the swing
To make him King!

Enough

How do we know if we do all
Things big and small
Now and again
For fellow men

Is it enough to care, not act?
A helping pact
Should be our creed
When we see need

Look for more ways to help others
Sisters, brothers
Strangers or not
Mankind's whole lot

Night Shadow

It came like a shadow at night
Silent, not right
Taking the life
Of the man's wife

It was hard to accept the fate
Of his life's mate
Such great sorrow
No tomorrow

More than fifty years of true love
A mourning dove
Waits at first light
To claim the night

Answered the Call

Off to wars, loved ones left behind
Honor defined
Duty to serve
Life to preserve

They fought to keep our country free
Land, air, and sea
Answered the call
Warriors all

We honor them for what they gave
Upon each grave
Flowers or wreath
They lie beneath

Into the Void

Heard some disturbing news today
Hard to portray
A life destroyed
Into the void

A person of stature fell hard
Family scarred
Life's work undone
A bond broken

Will the reasons ever be clear?
Where was the fear?
Did he give thought?
To being caught

A Love Unbound

A mother's love creates a bond
Nothing beyond
From the first time
For a lifetime

It can endure time and absence
If its essence
Together, whole
Is heart and soul

Mothers Day is time to reflect
And to project
A love unbound
By earthly ground

Bad Day

So you think you had a bad day?
Let me just say
Give it some thought
It may be naught

Soldier loses limbs to a bomb
But remains calm
To direct fire
Live, to inspire

Cop gives his life to save someone
He did not run
Done is his day
For him, I pray

At What Cost

Thought it would be all right
And then one night
Broke down the door
I'm on the floor

I should have left before the rage
It set the stage
For so much pain
Hard to stay sane

With hope and help, must find a path
Free from your wrath
All is not lost
But, at what cost?

The News

I'm someone who just wants to know
The status-quo
Of ev'rything
Da-ba-da-bing

Television, print, internet
Each news outlet
I seek the scoop
An endless loop

The truth is now harder to get
That I regret
Bias prevails
Through secret veils
