Night Shadow

It came like a shadow at night
Silent, not right
Taking the life
Of the man's wife

It was hard to accept the fate
Of his life's mate
Such great sorrow
No tomorrow

More than fifty years of true love
A mourning dove
Waits at first light
To claim the night
