Hear Me

What are you seeing
in your far away gaze
No sensitivity to your surroundings
Awash in a haze
Where are your thoughts
a broken heart never to mend
contentment in no way to feign
nor to even pretend
so are you so lost and alone
are you to self absorbed to see
that someone else cares about you
and that someone is me
to you I am but a companion
with a shoulder to cry on
someone who will listen
someone to rely on
but your broken heart is to fixated
and your weary brain to burdened with pain
to recognize I can become your true lover
and forever remain
for that far away gaze
is the exact same thing I incontestably do
every time I am alone
and my thoughts turn to you
may these words bring you solace
may you trust once again
I have so much love to bestow you
And I am far more than a friend

Seems To Me

seems to me if I ignore you
you come a knockin at my door
seems to me if I implore you
you do not call me anymore
seems to me at times I am forlorn
cause I need a fix of you
seems to me you are already taken
and that you ought to be taboo
seems to me for whatever reason
if all truth were to be told
seems to me we will remain friends everlasting
and on that idea I am forever sold

Career Man

at times a man is driven
to better himself and make big ching
to flex what his brain has to offer
so he can provide the wife with all the bling

sometimes a man grows frustrated
for it seems no matter how he tries
the cheeseburger in his life
always comes with cold french fries

yet a true man learns to recognize
that there is more to satisfaction than big ching
recognition for ones' best efforts
is what makes a man's heart truly sing

so when he brings home the bacon
the wife will make his bread doe rise
and if things aren't perfect for his lady
she proceeds to simply nuke those cold french fries

Running From Myself

Been running from myself
Been screaming out in vain
Can’t get my self control
Drivin in the pouring rain
My grip tight on the wheel
As I catch a self glance in my rear view mirror
Gonna take it to the ditch
Or gonna drive it off the pier
And it ain’t because of you girl
Cause it is only fair to say
I took it to the limits
And I pushed you all the way
And as the thunder booms in my ears
As the hailstones bounce upon the ground
I recognize it is not worth livin
And this boy is going down
The tires stretch their limits
As I take one last deep breath
If life is not worth livin
I might as well try death
And the impact is unreal to me
the entire episode seems so fake
As I scream out in my sleep
And suddenly find myself awake
there you are lying next to me
your tan long legs and curvy thighs
and I look across the bedroom
and I dry my weary eyes
and I know that in the morning
I will have the chance to say
Please don’t leave me darling
Cause I want you to surely stay
Yet the words won’t come I know this
As your bags sit waiting by the door
And I will hope it does not rain today
Cause I can’t predict my own actions anymore
Cause I can’t predict my own actions anymore

Escape

a cloud drifted slowly by my window today
just where it was heading I did not know
and my spirit vaulted onto that billowing white pillow
as it had decided it so wished to go

the soaring heights I did achieve
the thrill of having not one single care
an escape from a frenzied reality
how I so longed to remain suspended there

yet I glanced back to from where it is I came
as the horizon began to disappear
and my spirit sighed a deep long breath
and in a moment I was back to here

the delight this jaunt provided me
was a moment I now share with you
for it was a restorative experience
and something you may also wish to do

and maybe someday again soon my friend
I will leap up to the sky and see
you riding on the same cloud I choose
and have you set out for a short journey with me
