Rocky Road

Life is a rocky road to traverse,
The destination is unpredictable,
Success is something difficult to know,
Failure is not unusual,
Life is like you are trying to go dowsing,
Using a wet noodle.

On a Hawaiian Plateau

You said “I do”
I said it too,
That amazingly magical day,
On a Hawaiian Plateau.

Now that nineteen have come to pass,
I have no more wild oats to sow,
You will be the last lover,
I will ever know.

My Cinderella

I’m Prince Charming to your Cinderella
I’ve known it deep in my heart
That no dragon, nor serpent
Nor witch’s potion
Would dare to keep us apart

Observations

The only normal family is abnormal.
Do we have daymares?
Thinking is a soliloquy of the mind.
Do you really think Jack and Jill only wanted a pail of water?
To be great is to be misunderstood.
Some people must dream to balance those who don’t.
I am entombed by the landscape of my mind.
Don’t live in a sand castle hoping the tide will stay out.
It’s hard to be an odd person in an even world.
Why is common sense so uncommon?
Your perception of reality may not be real.
The wave does not have to look for the water.
Life is making sense out of nonsense.
Is insight the opposite of outsight?
Are the colors of the trees the colors you see?
Is the opposite of disgruntled, gruntled?
We are always giving our attention to something.
Be conspicuous about being inconspicuous.
Is what’s behind your front in front of your back?
Isn’t nothing, something?

One Child

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can awaken a dream,
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can usher in spring.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can ring out true,
One life can make a difference,
And it only takes one child,
To teach the whole world
Something it never knew.

Acorn To Mighty Oak

Neither baseball nor soccer,
Nor rod or reel would do,
For the pastime,
That would appeal to you.

Music and education,
Would be your call,
Your talent and tenacity,
Equipped you to have it all.

You were a young inquisitive acorn,
Who has blossomed into a woman self-made.
Bathing your mother and me,
In the caress of your mighty oak's shade.

The Peccadilloes of Life

Life can be a symphonic bonanza,
A philharmonic extravaganza,
A choral sunrise,
And an orchestrated surprise,
A conducted ecstasy,
An instrumental epiphany,
These are the peccadilloes of life,
The crescendo of my eternity.

Homophonium

They’re having their tea over there,
To have two cups too,
We’re going to wear our cloths, where?
I don’t really mean to be mean,
So tear your tear away,
Aren’t homophones and homonyms,
A fun a fun way to play?

Future Survival

Did I steal your future?
This I am not sure.
Have I tainted your past?
And make your memories obscure,
Have I infected your present?
Leaving you searching for a cure,
Questions are many,
Answers are few,
But I know your ultimate survival.
Is totally within you.

A Day In May Commemorate

The sights of the stars and stripes,
Invoke in me a sensation of pride,
When I hear, The Star-Spangled Banner,
I’m besieged with chills running up and down my spine.
Because they represent the justice and freedom,
All Americans have come to enjoy,
But sadly, sometimes it’s at the expense,
Of the lives of someone’s little girl or young boy.

These brave Americans chose to serve,
But, unfortunately, not all will survive,
To revel in the accolades, they so well deserve.
That’s why, on the last day in May,
We celebrate and pray;
Lord, please comfort the souls of our fallen heroes,
And God, bless our beloved U.S.A.
