Nikita Singal Poem
Years from now, maybe decades
When I’ve stopped looking for you
In every face, and every song
In every book, and every call
When wishing wells are empty
Of my desperate bids for you
When I’ve realized shooting stars
Are beautiful because
My eyes weren’t picturing
Your face for a wish instead
When memories of how you
Laughed at my valentine’s note
In front of your popular friends
Will stop leaving an ache
When scars from razor blades
On my ankles fade into spiders’ web
Trapping my love like a broken fly
Maybe after all this and more
I’ll look back and smile
Say it was a crush I had,
And my smile won’t tremble
With hidden denials and screams
Maybe then, you’ll look back
And remember this crazy girl
Who loved you with the force
Of a thousand cannons and bombs
And wonder where she went.

Nikita Singal Poem
Pink spreads and swells,
turns black
the ink you imprinted on paper.
The writing will annoy you
remind you.
So you’ll erase it, or at least
try to.
But gods of colour are capricious,
it’ll move, but refuse to go.
You can be stubborn too.
Neither will lose
until I do.
