All In the Present

The sheltering sky
Knows not what is to come,
But what is.
The blazing sun
Lights all that is,
But cannot reach what is not.
The rain from the heavens
Quenches the thirst of all living creatures,
But cannot satisfy those who have not yet came into being.
All of nature lives in the present
And knows naught of the future,
For the present is all that is real
And the future is but a shadow of what is to come.

The Dark Side of Love

The obsession born of forbidden desire,
Just as powerful as pure love, but more dangerous
Than any other force on earth.

Is that why you cannot keep away from me?
Does the power of your desire
Hold you prisoner against your own will?
And how am I to respond?
Should I welcome you and risk annihilation
Or should I fight you?
I wonder now if I even have a choice.
I feel so powerless against the hunger I see in your eyes
That I can do nothing but succumb to your every wish
And hope against hope that you and I can be together
Without seeing my own heart ripped to shreds on the floor.

Signs From God

I do not walk this earth alone,
I do not travel the seas by myself,
I do not climb mountains on my own.
Though no man may be with me,
I shall still alone not be,
For with me I shall always have
My creator and life guide.

And in my life, emptiness never will there be
For everywhere I look I see signs from God.

From the glimpse of an angel's wings,
To the feeling of being amongst loved ones, even when there is no-one around.

From the sun shinning after the storm,
To the sound of laughter after the shedding of many tears.

From the dragons I slay with a lance that I am not holding
To the knowledge that every day spent under the sun
Is a day spent in God's love.

Friendship

Though seasons come
And seasons go
Though days may pass
And days may flow
I shall stay
My friendship too
For I know
That in this world
All I have is you.

A Mother's Love

A mother is many things,
But above all else
A mother is the one who loves her child
Unconditionally, completely and forever.

A mother’s love never sways, never disappears
And only becomes stronger as time goes by.

A mother is the light
That leads the way in the darkness of life.
A mother is the hope
That you cling to
And the guiding hand
You hold on to.

A mother is the reason you exist
And the reason you go on.

And even when the world seems like a cold a lonely place
Solace can be found in a mother’s warm embrace.

An Ode To Blood

Coursing through our veins
Sometimes as cold as ice
And sometimes fiery hot
But always radiating life.

Red as a poppy in a field
Or lava exploding from a volcano within.

Bitter as iron
But sweet as honey too.

As it flows, so does life too
And when it flows no more, so does life cease too.

The Promise

In the house of the Lord
They promise
To run hand in hand in the sun and in the rain.
They promise
To share their laughter and their tears.
They promise
To make a home
And decorate it with colour and light.
They promise
To make their dreams reality.
They promise
To carry each other over the sea.
They promise
To cherish their love forever.
They promise
To live and die together.

Dark Silence

A dark castle
Rose from the ashes
Of a broken dream.
A sinister presence
Crept through the empty rooms.
The light from a blood-red moon
Danced in the shadows of a haunted forest.
And every scream that was not heard
Echoed in the silence of passing time.

Advice For Living

Don’t let your tears
Fall on empty ground,
Don’t let your cries
Fall on deaf ears,
Don’t let your signs of anguish
Fall on blind eyes.

Don’t cower in the shadows
With your soul full of darkness,
But stand tall in the sun,
Don’t keep your hands by your side,
But reach out to touch those who are beside you,
Don’t crawl on your knees alone
When you can stand by a whole nation
Of people just like you.
