Never Saw You Coming

Who would have known
That just an ordinary night at the bar
I would be anxiously waiting to end it all
To break his heart
Then I turn around
& there you are

Your eyes so stunning
They pulled me in
That smile
Oh that smile
I couldn’t resist
I was going in

A little small talk
A few laughs
Flirting here & there

I never saw you coming
You came out of nowhere
& although the events that took place that night were rare to me
I do not regret it at all
Not one kiss
Not one thing

I’ll admit
At first I thought I would only be a rebound
But your touch
Your kiss
The way you held me
The look in your eyes
They changed it all
They changed my mind

For what I saw as just a spring romance
Has turned into something more than I could have ever dreamt
Everything about you just takes my breath away
You have it all
You have everything

I may have won that night
But Baby you win as of now
I surrender my heart & soul to you
You have it all
It is left to you

These next 6 months will not be easy
This I know
But I will live each day counting down the days until you return home

I never saw you coming
But I am glad that you did
My heart is yours
Until I see you again

I Miss You

I miss your smile
I miss your touch
I miss your kiss
I miss all of the things we used to do
But more than anything
I miss you

I miss sitting around watching Boy Meets World
Reciting Rodney Carrington
Each and every line
Laughing at all the jokes
Those were good times

I miss walking the dogs together
And waking up next to you
These things may seem simple to many
But they mean the world to me

No one can ever take your place
Because you are truly the man of my dreams

I miss lying next to you
Wrapped in your arms
My hand in your hand
Listening to music
Exposing our souls to one another
Like no one else can

I miss your laugh and that look in your eyes
I miss running my fingers through your hair
And holding your body against mine

I miss playing Xbox with you late at night
And falling asleep on your chest
Those are the times that I cherish
Waking up to you is next best

I miss you being in the same state
But I love that you are chasing your dreams
For that I will always wait for you
Each time that you leave
& until you return once again
I will stand by your side through it all
Through everything
Thick & thin

I can’t begin to tell you all of the things I miss because I miss you more than words could ever explain
& as you read these words do not feel like I am in pain at all
Or in any way
You bring pure joy and happiness in my life
I simply miss you
& long for the day that you are once again by my side

Forgotten

I have spent my entire life searching for my own happiness in the hands of others
Sad but true
Never truly understanding that my happiness lies within me
& within me lies the greatest of love of all
You
Lord you have given me more than I deserve
& I have failed you more than I should
But like the Hero that you are
You save me from the demons in this world
Through the dark and through the light
You see me through
You have given me clear sight
It has taken trial & error to finally see
That my purpose here is to live for you
Not for me
Growing up I remember giving you my all
Praising you
You were the keeper of my Heart & Soul
But somewhere along the way
I lost myself
I lost it all
It is sad to look back and see
That you were always there
Through it all
Not once did you ever leave
I say this is sad
Because I ignored your presence
& continued to do bad
You witnessed the darkest times of my life
But you didn’t give up
You never let me go
You held on and saw me through
Because you have a plan
& it is set in stone
I woke up today realizing that I still have not given myself to you completely
Like I had once before
Maybe it is the fear of change
Or habits that I need to break
No matter what
Either way
I am done with going through the motions
So here you go Lord
My Soul is yours to take
You are no longer Forgotten
