The Emotions We Share

Happiness, oh how we love to share
That smile, that laugh, how others fall into our snare
The twinkle of the eye and mischievous wink
It drags us in, faster than we can blink

A hand on the shoulder, a comforting touch
Reassurance in a world that doesn't offer much
Hate wiped out with a simple hand shake and peaceful gesture
Aren't these the values by which we'd all like to measure

The emotions we share, without even noticing
Whether that be smiling or worse still, crying
These are the signs on how others perceive
Perception is often cited as our reality, dare you deceive?

I set a challenge to all who read
Let us not accept our ancestral lead
Let's challenge negative with positive
And let happiness be all that we give

To share a sadness, isn't that a sin?

Working In Benefits Street

The pen hits the paper
Like the needle hitting that groove
It just makes you, wanna move...
Get up, go, no one likes a waster

The pitch, how oh so sweet
I'm sold, let me dream
I'll rise to the top, be richer than cream
Lets hope this life won't be so fleet

That drive, how it runs so deep
Deep, deeper than skin, down to the soul
A fearless refusal to break or fall
Drive so deep its scared to sleep

Climbing, soaring, constant battling
Incessant persual of the finer things
Overcoming the hurtful stings
Barbed comments but never yelling

This is battle ground of the worker in a benfits class shroud.
