Pondering On Perfection

Perfection
Comes encased
In an illusion
Hiding the decays
And the facets
Of imperfection.

Like a mirror
With two faces
The good glitters
And the bad
Lurks and reflects
In dark recesses.

A banal farce
Of human nature
The affectations
Used to bolster
The image
For the greater.

On a Humid Night

On a humid night
Hot, as the heat wave strikes
Emotions that churn restlessly
Dark and fervid as the night.
Would it have been different
Could laughter show its might
But laughters are an echo
Far off......
In the distant daylight.

On a humid night
Tossing, the nightmares take flight
The clock that ticks endlessly
Dreams become a blight.
Would I have been indifferent
A shrug, an oversight
But hurts become an echo
And hits.....
Like a blistering smite.

Trivial Matters

The small things
That do not matter
At that time
Trivial anecdotes
Embellish our lives
Like a play that emotes
Part of our chronicle
That keeps us afloat
During troubled times.

As we recall
Events of the past
Regardless of importance
It brings some balance
With a smile
A moment of nostalgia
And a sense of warmth
A port for an
Emotional storm.

Haven

The world beyond
Holds mysteries unbound
Shrouded in dreams
Translucent figures gleam
Where ghosts and ghouls
And peace-loving souls
Reside in the domains
Of another dimension......

Can they feel, can they love
Are their lives different from ours
Do they live
In harmony and peace
No anger, no torment
Without resentment and discontent.
Smiles on their faces
Sweet and sincere, not pasted
Holding hands together
Unhampered by creed or colour.
A perfect haven for the weary
After a long, tiring journey?

O Betrayal

Oh betrayal!
You carry the stink of death.
Death to all the love
Sundering God's will above.
The seed of distrust
Worms its way
Into the heart.
While the one we love
The one we trust
Replaces us
In his heart.

Oh betrayal!
You carry the stink of rot.
Rot to all we value
All vows old and new.
The seed of temptation
Hard to resist
Becomes the hardest cut.
While the one that's left
Sorely bereft
Replaces him
With a broken heart.

The Painting

A white canvas
Reflects our soul
At the beginning
Pure and spotless
Mix the colours, wet the brushes
And the work of our life
Commences.

Purple for aggression
Fiery red, a dash of passion
A hint of green for jealousy
Grey when our lives are fraught
With uncertainties
But always a splash of yellow
Hope, when we’re feeling low.

On judgement day we stand
Before The Almighty
To have our paintings appraised
The harshest critic,
Whose Eyes will conceive
The black imperfections
Carefully camouflaged.
