The Painting

A white canvas Reflects our soul At the beginning Pure and spotless Mix the colours, wet the brushes And the work of our life Commences. Purple for aggression Fiery red, a dash of passion A hint of green for jealousy Grey when our lives are fraught With uncertainties But always a splash of yellow Hope, when we’re feeling low. On judgement day we stand Before The Almighty To have our paintings appraised The harshest critic, Whose Eyes will conceive The black imperfections Carefully camouflaged.
