Where a Sin Gegins

Hearts of ice, souls of coal.
Keeping secrets from being known.
In a world full of scourn,
not allowing a mother to mourn.
Mind pure,purely evil.
A mother left to see her boy mangled.
Scarred and mangled.
Dead.
Dead at the bottom of the river.
The KKK executed a task to kill,
at their will.
A smirk on the face of a killer.
Emmit won't die in vain.
Emmit won't die without change.
Started as a dare, ended in death.
Mother choking back words she cannot say.
Cursing the night.
She's alone in fright.
Tears streaming down her face like a race.
A race to change.

Unfortunate Distance

You start to distance yourself from your friends.
Say it's all you, not even them.
They wouldn't understand and
it's be so much easier for them to mend.
When you're six feet under,
your love you'd send.
It would hurt them less if you'd never met,
but the good times you can't regret.
They were nice while they lasted
but now you're trapped in.
You can't leave them here,
you're in too deep.
So faking a smile and holding it in you'll keep.
It'd be so much easier to just go away
but only for them you're forced to stay.
No one understands how you feel inside.
Behind the walls barriers lies
a girl who's in pain and really confused.
Whose heart has been broken and battered and bruised.
But you keep up the charade
and hope in the love and compassion, you'll be paid.
Go on and give growing up a chance
then it's okay if "sorry" is all you said.
Sorry you couldn't make it.
Sorry you couldn't fake it.
Sorry you couldn't help but break it.
It was nice while it lasted,
how you're looking down to cry.
Hide the tears from their eyes.
They can't know you're hurting
behind the smiles,
but at least you made seventeen worthwhile.

Under Water, Under Smoke

I feel pressure pushing into me.
It is coming from all sides.
I struggle to breathe and begin to gasp.
It's everything from my past
coming to make a second round.
The feelings of regret coming around.
So deep.
So deep I've almost drowned.
But the waters started to recede
with the help of a little weed.
Now there's fire in my lungs
where healthy ones once hung.
Now blackened and cold
and only leaves it's once strong hold.

Mute

You don't think you're strict
but my throat is slit.
I can't say a word.
...
My tongue is tied,
all you get are lies,
and you don't believe what you've heard.
My heart is aching.
This last breath I wont be taking
to tell you how long it's been in the making.
Forsaking me to the devil's eyes
those inside cries
as my insides die
the pretty little victim decides
how to move on.
Put the make up and smile on,
but her heart is gone.
Left with the caskets close
from that night arose
a new making.
Something that won't be taking
another one higher.
Just to turn into another liar
She said she's fine,
but the words she can't find.
They're hidden inside past the fake.
Another little girl it can't take
Sometimes you've gotta rearrange
and make a new meaning
when all the little things
can be so deceiving.
She doesn't know the difference between
right and wrong
Stay here and be weak or
move on and be strong.
But you don't want to idolize it.
Use it as a guide as you go through life.
You've got a life to live
and a world to see
and I wouldn't be doing what you're doing if it was me.
