Santa's Problem Sleigh

Santa called me the other day
He has a problem with his sleigh
It’s far too big for the elves to mend
I said to Santa, a hand I’d lend!
‘But what on earth am I to do?
It’s Christmas in a day or two!’
We talked and talked throughout the night
To solve the problem – to make it right
I’d have to give Santa Claus a lift
To make sure you all get your gift
We emptied the sleigh into my car
And travelled for miles, near and far
We covered the ground all through the night
The snow filled sky was such a sight.
As daylight came, we were all done
And watched as children had their fun
So next year Santa, remember me
And leave a special present under my tree!

My Wish For a Genie

If I could meet a genie, who will grant three wishes for me,
The first thing I would ask for is your eternal company.
Your happiness and laughter would make me feel so good,
To be together all the time, I only wish we could.

My second wish would be that your smile will never fade
It lights your face and lights my life, my days are always made.
It sets my heart racing, at what rate I cannot say
You're in my life right now, and I'll care for you each day.

For my final wish I'd ask my genie to make us safe and strong,
Your steadiness and gentleness will move us both along.
Our feelings for each other will keep us close together,
And thanks to my genie, we'll stay that way forever.

Castle Hill

Looking out at the vast empty spaces
The silence allows time to reflect.
Gazing out, there's no one looking back
The calmness in the air has the desired effect.
The trees afar are moving, gently in the breeze
And flowers rustle, with effortless motion.
The calm allows for thought to manifest
Ebbing back and forth like the rhythm of the ocean.
Looking out a haziness drifts in
Encompassing your mind, disturbing your sight.
Darkness and confusion begin to settle
Striving in the empty space to find some light.

Cardboard City

Cardboard City, a place of fear
Loneliness and terror always near.
The wind echoes all around
People so scared, make not a sound.
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide,
People look on, but from the inside.
Amongst the fear are drugs and violence,
Some spend their lives living in silence.
Begging and scrounging, all for a feed,
Amongst the riches of capitalist greed.
Runaway or throwaway, they are all the same
Some only identified by a made up name.
Hope of a future, a lifetime away
Nothing but fear in the life of a stray.

My Valentine

Last night I dreamed I saw a dove,
That showed my feelings for you were love.
It glided softly through the air,
And made me think that you were there.
It landed softly on the ground,
And there for you, my love was found.

Take the First Step

It creeps up on you, others can see it though.
A rollercoaster lifestyle, a life without a flow.
Don’t eat, don’t sleep, don’t do a lot,
I can’t explain, it’s this thing I’ve got.
Forgot how to smile at one stage,
And would break into unruly rage.
I scared myself to seeing him though,
To regain my lifestyles flow.
I talked, I cried, he listened to me,
Once more I felt I could be free.
A chemical concoction to help me through,
Re-balancing the conscious ‘til back to new.
It will always be there, deep in my mind
But I have stored it away, difficult to find.
The smile’s returned and I’ve gained control,
The longer you leave it, the bigger the hole.

On With the Unknown

Relentlessly waiting for something to be achieved
In the depths of the darkness
Which dreams are to be believed?
Endless responsibility but none of it for me
In the depths of the darkness
A way out I cannot see.
Reluctantly accepting the change which lies ahead
In the depths of the darkness
Full of wonder, fear and dread

Ny Resolution

My New Year's resolution
Is to make my dream come true!
I want to be a writer,
Produce a book or two.
Confidence is lacking
But I'll try to make ME win,
My creative juices flowing,
And see what 2015 will bring.

NY resolution contest

Restless

Restless

In the depths of the night, why am I still awake?
Thoughts buzzing in my mind; white noise I cannot shake.
In an effort to enter a state of peace deep within my mind,
Harmony and calmness – a challenge for me to find.

The night falls black, yet thoughts remain bright
Images race through my mind at the speed of light.
Mixed up and confused and endless restless motion
Flowing back and forth like the rhythm of the ocean

Sj

When others shied away, you reached out and hugged me tight
The action needed no words and it stayed with me that night.
In my confusion and anger you stood by my side and listened
I’d open my soul and cry which meant my eyes glistened.
Being full of intuition, intelligence and wise,
At that time you were my angel in disguise.
I will forever try to repay you for all that you did for me
At a time when I felt so very lost and didn’t know where to be.
You were my sunshine in so many ways
At the times when I had a cloudy day
Through my trials and tests, right there you stood
And you gave me guidance where you could
Thank you so much for being a friend
My gratitude towards you has no end.
