On Your Own Ground

He unlocked his brakes
With tri-pod in place
Put his foot down
On his own ground..

With help from above
He stood on both feet
One step
Then two steps
It wasn't that steep..

From here
To there
Is what
He cared about
The most
How far
How close..

He controls
His life on wheels
No one knows
How he feels..

Unlock your brakes
Put your feet down
Hold on tight
Stand up
On Your Own Ground.

The Ghetto

"The Ghetto"

Have you been to
The ghetto
People know
How to let go
Music playing
People swaying
To another day
In a poor man's paradise

There is no one
That you don't know
Even the hungry
Hobo
You help because
You don't know
When the day comes
You'll knock on his door

Have you been to
The ghetto
Sometimes scary
Sometimes fun
Sometimes you are
On the run
And when the day is done
You're glad
You're not the only one

In the ghetto
Music playing
People swaying
To another day
In a poor man's
Paradise..

Self Knowledge

Self knowledge..

Is the ultimate prize..

Where your masterpiece..

Of life abides..

Humanity

Ill will
Hatred
Malignant
Malign
Malicious
Spiteful
Dirt under feet
Have tried
Have cried
The woes
The strife
The sleepless nights
Haunting thoughts
Of no one there
Fills the air
Something of sorrow
Today and tomorrow
Where do we borrow
Hearts not made of sorrow
Life that's not hollow
Or made to wallow
Misjudge
Mislabel
Misgiving
Misfortune
The dead and
The living
Kicked when down
It's all around
The cycle is long
And overdue to end
It just takes a moment
Humanity
My friends

Rowing Through Life's Waters

Rowing through
Life's waters..
Treading against
The tide..

Not stopping
For a moment
Because of
Being tired..

Looking towards
The future..
Energized
And persevered..

Expectations
Along the horizon..
Rowing through..
Into the clear..

What Are You Doing

"what Are You Doing"

What are you doing
Who are you fooling
You take each day
You throw it away
What are you doing

Look In the mirror
What do you see
Is it a stranger
You can't conceive

Long ago
You were a star
Time has passed
Here you are

Each day a challenge
A win
A lose
Competing
For you to choose

Love who you are
Be a star
Cherish each day
Live life your way

A strong hand
Is here for you
To move you forward
To guide you through

Take a moment
You can choose
With direction
You can't lose
What Are You Doing..

Your Bucket List

I was on your
Bucket List ..
things to do ..
you and I ..

And now that
we have done
it all ..

You want to
say goodbye ..

Don't cry ..
dry your eyes ..

It was bound
to happen ..
by and by ..

I'm glad we
shared your
Bucket List ..
things to do ..

You and I ..

Can You Hear the Silence

Can you hear the silence

Can you hear
the sound
a pen makes
as it falls
to the floor

Can you hear
the breeze
go gently by
as you
open the door

Can you hear
music playing
on the radio
and
sounds
from a tv
show

Can you hear
drops of water
rolling down
the drain
and
leaves rustling
over the terrain

Can you hear
its name

Can you hear the silence
