Just a Fling

It started out so fun, so new
we didn’t define anything
because that complicates everything
it was just a fling.

But our nights got longer,
our laughs got louder,
then we slipped up
and fell in love

You could see it in the smiles
could hear it in the voice
with every touch it was clear
but nothing was said

It slipped out like a secret
through your breathy laugh
neither one of us expecting to hear it
I love you

we didn’t know if it was true
or just the moment
that lead to this declaration
But it was done

Maybe it scared you,
so you took the first step,
I just followed your lead
and we locked eyes

and with a sad smile
we started to back away
from what could have been,
and we could have been

I Waited

I'm not sure what you want from me,
You can't act like you didn't see,
I watched you walk away from me
But I waited.
Thought that you would change your mind.
That it was impossible for you to be that blind
Didn't think you could leave me behind.
So I waited.
You said leaving her would be too rough
And I wanted so badly to call your bluff
And maybe it would be enough
That I waited.
But I don't know how long I was supposed to spend
Nursing a broken heart you wouldn't mend
I could feel us coming to an end
Still I waited
Too see if you would pull me through
You knew my heart was black and blue
But pretended you didn't have a clue
That I waited
And now you can't believe it's true
I fell for someone who isn't you
Never thought I'd find someone new
Because I waited
So excuse me if I ignore you begging please
You look so silly on your knees
We used to talk with so much ease
That's why I waited
And though you think my new loves fake
That's just a chance I have to take
And now you feel my heartache
Cause now you're waiting
