Andrew Loud Poem
Two Hearts
Two hearts set forth upon the road one day
Braving the perilous plights of life's path
And by cleaving together onward, they
Transcended and eclipsed the laws of math
For what good is a wing without its pair?
Alone it weeps and never hopes to fly
But when met with another, both can dare
And blaze uncharted trails across the sky
So, too, the heart is meant for something more
Enclosed within, yet still designed for flight
Together two can make the spirit soar
And set the tinderbox of love alight
As the flames fly, it cannot be undone
When it comes to love, one and one makes one.

Andrew Loud Poem
(Every year I write a charge for my team at the beginning of football season. It is a joy to combine two of my passions and I encourage you to write about your passions, whatever they may be.)
Now in the hills of Morgantown there was a football team
Starting a quest to be the best that most would call a dream
And how they did, "a dream and more" said the pundits on TV
The Mountaineers can't win this year - but soon the blind shall see
Because when one team rises up and dons the Gold and Blue
They bring the weight of our whole state and there's NOTHING they can't do
So believe with me once more my friends - the hills are gonna sing
From mountain to valley, we'll start up the rally, our battle cry will ring
Take heart to hope and believe again; set those expectations higher
We'll have some fun and when we're done we just might start a fire
Let's flood the field with thunderous shouts, let the earth quake with our cheers
Come on, who's in? We're going to win!! LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!

Andrew Loud Poem
In the many long years since your birth
You've made twenty eight laps with the earth
In that time you've taken
Your fair share of bacon
And thus greatly increased in your girth

Day and Knight
In a time forgotten long ago, in a land quite far away
There lived a lass so beautiful, they called her Princess Day
For her smile was so radiant, her countenance so bright
It's said that any place she stepped, she brought with her the light
And always found just by her side, was her knight so debonair
Whose dashing deeds of derring-do, were known most everywhere
The two were nigh inseparable, they were never seen apart
It was whispered that they simply were, two pieces of one heart
They ruled the land with truth and grace, and the people all were glad
Together they were the greatest rulers, a kingdom ever had
But true love has its enemies, or so the stories tell us
Indeed, there was a sorceress, who had become quite jealous
She saw what the Princess had, and wished it for her own
So she cooked up an evil plan, to sit upon the throne
With slimy snails and dragon tails, she made a vile potion
Then set off to the royal castle, to set her plan in motion
The sorceress met Princess Day, and offered her a drink
And with one sip she felt quite tired, her eyes began to sink
Not a soul could wake her up, though many of them tried
And soon the entire kingdom wept, for it seemed the Princess died
Her knight however kept his faith, and got down on one knee
“Lord, take from her this sleeping curse, and give it unto me!
I know my Princess Day she lives, I feel it in my heart
I'd give anything to see her safe, even if we were apart”
Her body stirred within her bed, the sun began to rise
For Princess Day was back again, and opening her eyes!
As she woke the knight was weary, and began to nod his head
And took her place fast asleep, upon the royal bed
The Princess returned to rule the land, the sorceress didn't win
And any time she fell asleep, her knight would rise again
That's why we call them night and day, both watching from above
Ruling the land with gentle hand, and sacrificial love
For what together they once shared, they now each have alone
One must sleep for the other to rise, and sit upon the throne
But the sunset is the sky's delight, and never to be missed
For the very shortest span of time, both day and night exist
In the sunrise and the moonlight, the stars and the sun's rays
The two smile at each other, for the rest of all their days
So do not fear the dark my babe, it is just the noble knight
Standing guard until his love, can rise to bring the light.

No matter a man's call or profession
He must use all the proper protection
Ask the zookeeper why
For he lost his left eye
When the elephant got an erection
Made for Bawdy

A Sonnet for Jayne
O,'Tis such a rare and beauteous thing
Amidst the turmoil,who can explain
That which inspires a man's soul to sing,
Or to reflect its light in loud refrain.
Were the stars so sullen before we met?
Did both the moon and sun forswear to shine?
For I could roam the whole of earth, and yet
What beauty gazed upon compares to thine?
With but the lightest touch my heart combusts,
A whisper bids all other thoughts depart,
Ensnared within love's stormy throes and gusts,
With passion found, does life then truly start?
I pray thee say it's me whom you adore
Or let me go so I may die once more.

Andrew Loud Poem
The World Broken
No greater sorrow
has the world known
Than the feeling of
unrequited love
For when else is a
man's heart blithely
thrown
On jagged rocks from
precipice above?
A symphony of
darkness and despair
The black crescendo
overwhelming thought
Emptiness expands
with each breath of
air
The soul, it weeps
for all the havoc
wrought
A smile forms a
ramshackle disguise
A melancholy fugue
assumes control
How many times can
shattered hope arise
A broken heart be
put together whole?
Entombed in an
infernal vault of
night
It seems I am
forsaken by the
light

Andrew Loud Poem
Not Afraid
I was not built to live in fear, I will not be afraid
For my God loves and holds me dear, in His image I am made
My spirit holds the gifts God gave, for all the world to see
Power that rose Christ from the grave, it also lives in me
His love is unconditional, and lives within me, too
For we are all called to forgive, and not just pray, but do!
The last piece that completes it all, is that of self control
Used together with the others, it makes the spirit whole
Without power we are helpless, without love we are cold
And we need the discipline, that our faith will always hold
So there is nothing left to fear, we serve a righteous king
With power, love, and discipline, we can do anything.
"For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7 (NET)
