Parenthood

Dots of light dotted the dome
Displaying dismal disks
Halfhearted innuendos of harmony
Repetitive, unremarkable recordings
Minimally interesting, middle class, mediocre
Small wonder he thought, smirking, smarting
Discipline dismissed, discarded
Replaced with fun, funk and fad
Foolishness fueled Fukem, he fumed
No more, no more, no more
The military, military school, immediately!

Hands

Hands wave and hands save
They hold and they mold
The hand that claps also slaps
Hands give and hands receive
Hands make life beautiful

Pink

The man was in pink
Bent over the sink
Pink pants quite tight
Oh my what a sight!

His face a flush
Quite bright the blush
So loud the cough
Huff puff and scoff!

The people did wink
On the floor his mink
His Versace from Karachi
And hat like mariachi

Six more appeared
All similarly geared
Alas what a group
So very gay, this troupe!

Their Shoes Pinch

I cried when I watched it
A single tear
Rolled down his face
Crouching on the floor
Of a public bathroom
His bed for the night
And then I wore those shoes
I cried when I heard it
She gasped and sobbed
My children my children
Her children were gone
Find them she couldn't
And then I wore those shoes
I cried when I saw it
So skinny was he
His skin dark and ashy
It's not him
No, it can't be
And then I wore those shoes
I cried when it happened
My bed, a public bathroom
My children, gone
Hunger, oh hunger
I cried for them
Did I have to wear their shoes?

Gratitude

It's easy to be thankful
For all things good
For gifts
For kind words
For thoughtful actions
Gratitude
For pain
For hurt
And hateful actions
Heals.

Mental Tangents

More often than not
The mind is mellow
Frequently
The mind is focused
Sometimes
The mind is unsure
Once in a while
The mind is enraged
And then
The mind has flashes of inspiration
Undeniably
The mind is amazing

Blossom

Darkness,pain,hurt
Blinding
Uncertain,unplanned,
Misleading
ungrateful,unresponsive,unhappy
All seeds of bitterness
Emotional cycles, repetitive cycles
At one time or another
One of these is familiar
Building pain within
Blinding us without
Building walls around
Destroying bridges around
Inevitably islands begin to surface
Unsustainable islands, lacking fruit, lacking food,
Lacking spiritual sustenance
Sucking life, draining, killing
Cease the cycles! Bring forth new seasons!
Kill those emotions! Bring forth new life!
Starve those emotions! Give birth to a new spirit!
-thus
Starve them-those monsters within
Drain them of life-little useless dragons within
Silence the voices forever...
And bring forth a new you
Complete self control- utmost
Kindness. peace, joy-are only but a few
Satiate on these, with diligence
And then blossom
From a shrub
Into a tree

Him

His voice, commanding attention
Deep and loud, raspy around the edges
Slight twang, powerful, engaging
I raised my eyebrows

My attention was arrested
Social media, topic of conversation
Idiotic people skills, his point of view
I stood up and grinned

Amused, I surely was,
Fingers talking, rubbish content,he rasped
Just like silicon boobs
I burst into laughter

Sizzled

A call unexpected
A voice so bold
A speech so engaging
Sizzled, I was sizzled

An intellectual
An unchallenged persona
An uninhibited character
Sizzled, I was sizzled

I raised my eyebrow
I stopped my painting
I smiled, ever so slowly...
Sizzled, I was sizzled

Can'T Help It

A little yellow here
Some blue there
A wide strip of red
I stand back
My chest puffs
Hmmm...
I feel so proud
Look, just look
It's a masterpiece
This painting of mine
