When Tears Fall To the Sky

In a forgettable world
Where memories thrive
Concealed sorrow lingers
At its ubiquitous grave site
Around every corner
In a wandering conscience
Rests a deceased pandemonium
Forever unsilenced
Snowy carnations survive
From the moistening pain
Falling from the figurative
Eyes in our brain
If only others could know
The turmoil inside
Yet afflicted drops fall to the Earth
As if to run and hide
Only to dry themselves
And return to what is customary
A universe parallel
To this reminiscent cemetery
If only these flowing reflections
Could sprout wings and soar
And seek out comfort and guidance
As opposed to solitude and remorse
But the day will come
When your existence is called to subside
When all that remains dismisses your mind
A day when all of your tears will fall to the sky

Bitter Brightness

A perceived reality seen in light
Leaves a lack of mystery.
Nothing to be wondered or created.
But forfeit this light to the black
And endure a cognizance stimulated.
Nothingness lurks around every corner.
The senses struggle to understand
What is unknown.
Simultaneously, a caged mind
Is free to roam.
Life engulfed in the shadows
Reveals a potential universe.
One never before seen
Or felt by anyone.
For it originates and dwells
Within one's own creation.
Hope and fear, among its many productions
In response to imaginary manifestations.
So does the authenticity of these senses
Suggest a reality unseen?
Or is sight dominant
To that of feeling?
Perhaps seeing in light dismisses
The senses that dominate in darkness.
Would one doubt the eyes
In an alternate dimension of lightlessness?
A shaded reality's inevitable demise
Ultimately revealed as it creeps toward
The bitter brightness.

Judas In the Mirror

In darkened shadows
Focused on unsuspecting prey
Never would they see
Until venom filled their veins
Trapped in captivity
With no escape
Helpless and motionless
Their corpse mine to take
Freedom, a woven coffin
Breaths of air, a luxury
Fear is all that is left
Only fear and me
Patience is thin
The end will be soon
One step closer
As I make my move
But paralysis prohibits progress
All movement has ceased
And all of these walls
Cave in around me
Nowhere left to run
Nowhere left to hide
Trapped in my own prison
Reflecting inside
Enveloped in this grave I made
There is nothing left to bleed
All along the unsuspecting victim
Was me

Flames On a Page

The most valuable of all
Is the only story ever told
Written carelessly, yet meticulously
An impending novel unfolds
The scroll is etched with a fiery hand
Smoking down the page
Racing against the hand of time
To record abundantly prior the blaze
Countless days and countless hours
No chapters too short or too long
Moments of joy and anguish lack not
Nor decisions right or wrong
With simply no time for rectification
Fashioned over allotted duration
Flames arise with each turning page
As the narrative turns to ash in a grave

The Mountain

Radiancy entrapped
Locked away and sealed
Hidden in the horizon
Rarely to be revealed
Mountains that touch the sky
And are as treacherous as they appear
Provide a menacing barricade
Formed over a thousand years
Ventures up are sure to fail
Ascending is just pretending
For a hope that high
Can leave one dry
With an impending
And bitter ending
Fearing not the depths of darkness
Should the top never be reached
But oh the jubilance one could feel
If only to get a peek
But force one step too many
And never see that glow
For rejection by the mountain
Leaves one swallowed by the abyss below
