The Mountain

Radiancy entrapped Locked away and sealed Hidden in the horizon Rarely to be revealed Mountains that touch the sky And are as treacherous as they appear Provide a menacing barricade Formed over a thousand years Ventures up are sure to fail Ascending is just pretending For a hope that high Can leave one dry With an impending And bitter ending Fearing not the depths of darkness Should the top never be reached But oh the jubilance one could feel If only to get a peek But force one step too many And never see that glow For rejection by the mountain Leaves one swallowed by the abyss below
