Nothing But the Truth

Tell me I am pretty and sexy and hot
Tell me you like everything that I’ve got

Say that my clothes fit me just right
Even if some things are a little too tight

Laugh at my jokes even if they are dumb
Massage my neck ’til your fingers go numb

Don’t get mad becaue I make more money
Do the dishes, vacuum, and call me honey

Respect me for my intelligent mind
Treat all my friends friendly and kind

Tell me that I cook better than mother
Say that you’ll never love any other

Kiss me goodnight and good morning
Make love to me without any warning

Call me at work just to hear my voice
Say that being with me is your first choice

Watch chick flicks during a football game
Give me a sweet little sexy pet name

Tell me my lovely face is all you see
But darling, don’t you ever lie to me

Stewards of the Land

From the window, I can see
Snowy blooms on the dogwood tree

Cows grazing on pastures green
Baby calves, such a lovely scene

In my country heart, I seek
Words that describe, words to speak

So that others may read these lines
And find a deeper peace at times

God has filled our world with beauty
To care for it is our only duty

Stewards of the land are we
Keeping it beautiful for all to see

I Love You, Daddy

The smell would hit me like a slap in the face
My daddy was a patient in that place
I would find him sitting in his chair alone
I wished he didn’t live in a nursing home

How I longed to take him home with me
I couldn’t afford to stay with him, you see
He might wander off and I had to make a living
How I hated doing this for he had been so giving

He worked so hard, he had been a good Dad
Providing for the big family he and Mama had
Now Mama had gone on up to heaven
It was up to me, youngest of the seven

I would feel so guilty leaving him there
I was afraid he might think I didn’t care
His mind slipped away to some other place
Most days he didn’t even recognize my face

“I love you daddy,” I would always say
Hoping he would know me that day
He did recognize me one last time
It's a favorite little memory of mine

He looked at me with clear recognition
He patted my arm and asked this question
“Baby, are you still teaching school?”
I broke down and cried like a blubbering fool

On the day he died, I was there with him
I fed him ice and sang to him a favorite hymn
I wish he had known and had felt my touch
Daddy’s ‘baby girl’ misses him so much

Cheating?

Temptation reared its ugly head
Tonight as I lay in my bed
I considered what I would do
If I wanted to cheat on you

Looking on the singles sites
Staying up half of the night
Searching for someone new
If I wanted to cheat on you

Chatting with this guy on line
His conversation was sublime
Thoughts of my being untrue
If I wanted to cheat on you

Something is missing here
Something I really must hear
The emptiness might be filled, too
If I wanted to cheat on you

No one else could now replace
How I feel when I touch your face
Realizing this, I would be blue
If I ever cheated on you

So I will stay by your side
Waiting for the turning tide
For you to say, “I love you”
Knowing I’ll never cheat on you

Pulling Back

Pulling back my broken heart
Before you can finish tearing it apart
Now I am finally beginning to see
That you never meant to love me

Desire for me is not nearly enough
Why should leaving you be so tough
Your sweet ways and masculine charms
Won’t keep me happy in your arms

Love is needed, love is required
Without love, my heart grows tired
Of waiting for you to say to me
I love you as you love me

What will I do to slowly end
This love affair with my dear friend
Our weekends together will happen less
My phone calls will be less frequent, I guess

No longer will you hear from me
How deep my love for you can be
Fewer kisses and cuddles and late nights
You say you’re not ready, I guess that’s right

My goodbye will be so very slow
I will be gone before you even know
That we could have had it all, my dear
If falling for me wasn’t your biggest fear

Four Seasons of Love

summer love so real
feeling alive in your arms
very hot we got
~*~
autumn hearts afire
nature treks took together
loving crisp weather
~*~
winter romance fun
snuggling under covers
blissfully in love
~*~
springtime love will bloom
our bodies keeping rhythm
seasonal pulses

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow

Got a tune in my head that won’t go away
I’ve been singing it the entire day
Called the radio station, asked them to play
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”

It came out in nineteen sixty-one
I was only eight, but I heard it some
My sister had it on a black vinyl forty-five
The Shirelles made that song come alive

It was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King
It is one of those songs you want to sing
The Motown sound was being born
Those soul sisters could sing up a storm

Maybe I was too young to rock and roll
But that song sure does have a lot of soul
If you don’t remember or you never knew
I have included the chorus for you!

“Tonight you’re mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the look of love is in your eyes
But will you still love me tomorrow?”

My Dog, Jake

Jake's as purty as a Boston terrier can be.
Grinning and jumping each time he sees me.
He’s happy to be fed and he dearly loves to fetch.
We use a little stuffed bear when we play catch.

I got him as a puppy and instantly could tell
He was a dog I would love and never ever sell.
He chewed on the corners of furniture and stuff.
He loves to play “tug of war” because we played so rough

Now he’s almost six years old, my friend Jake
He never fails to greet me, my day he does make
A good dog and companion for the whole family.
“Feed Jake” if I can’t, is my heart-felt plea.

Fire Ants!

Fire ants! Fire ants! All over my yard!
Fire ants! Fire ants! Why do you try so hard?

There are little hills of demons all over my land
Filled with the little critters that I just can’t stand!
The sting and they bite and leave scars on me.
The have even killed my very favorite tree!

Fire ants! Fire ants! Are making me so mad!
Fire ants! Fire ants! Where’s that can of diesel I had?

I will be diggin’ in a flower bed when suddenly
Those darn fire ants are swarming all over me!
I run to turn on the water and grab the water hose
So I can wash away the fire burning under my clothes!

Fire ants! Fire ants! Taking over Texas!
Fire ants! Fire ants! Meaner than my exes!

One of these days, I will manage to eradicatecate
Just as soon as someone improved fire ant bait
My land will then have a fire ant sign
Saying stay off of my property, it is mine!

Fire ants! Fire ants! Making evil mounds!
Fire ants! Fire ants! If you got ‘em, trouble abounds!
