Rosaline's Revenge

Oh Juliet! A memory of a love long lost in vain…
thy bridal song, a dirge of darkened madrigal becomes.
Yet thought of you, for me, brings more to mind of hate than pain
and all because you stole away the one who was my Love.
Whilst all the rest swoon ‘Juliet’, their precious turtle dove,
I left my love to serve my Lord, but thou – a concubine!
for Romeo forsook his first and foremost, Rosaline.

Let none be fooled! So cold and cruel thy wicked heart disguised,
behind a face of snow white youth and eyes of clearest blue
resides a witch, a sorceress; I swear it, though surmised.
Thy tender lips with somber kiss bore poison drops of dew
to steal my one and only love, my son of Montague!
Unfair the pair in Heaven will forever live in death,
whilst I, without my Romeo, yet he has Juliet!

*written from the point of view of Rosaline, Romeo's initial love interest before laying eyes on Juliet...

Jealous Jupiter

Through endless, vast, eternal space
there hangs my most omniscient orb.
So far a dark and lonely place,
no sunlight to absorb…
just as my dark and lonely soul,
forever unexplored.

My many moons of sordid glow,
as all my suitors orbit slow –
but Titan’s love I longed for so,
forever mine ignored…
and left this dark and bloody spot –
forever to abhor.

*A comparison between a covetous, lonely love and that of Jupiter for Saturn's Titan :).

The Lilies Gave Me Nightmares

My Lover’s heartfelt tithing setting by my bedside looms.
For his comment undermining, gave a gift of Lily blooms,
but the bouquet ever blossoms off intoxicating fumes
and the blunder of my Lover unbeknownst becomes my doom….
What augurs well, perchance foretell! The Lilies shroud my tomb?

So drifting off through slumber soft my summer sloth descends
into the blue, the muddled hue before the black begins
and dreams supreme replaced by screams as Nightmare settles in.
For if I die before I wake, eternity to spend!
I pray my Love, my Soul, to take the lilies back again.

The Green Lantern

As I walk into this den of lions,
hungry whores and liars lying,
green light shines upon my talons,
and I am where my kind belongs
For none can break this tie that binds us;
wicked, wretched weave inside us;
living, breathing, breeding virus,
and I am right within the wrong.

The Sirens sound, the dark surrounds me,
Hounds of Hell, they maul and mount me.
Devils pour the whiskey down me,
drown me in their emerald sin.
Yet when I wake alone tomorrow,
poisoned by regret and sorrow,
deep in debt; no love to borrow,
it’s off to Hell I’m bound again.

Predestination's Discrimination

So I hear the blessed children
have a place in Heaven's kingdom,
where they sing and dance in union.
God, He gave His only Son.

For in life a few are chosen -
break the bread, the Baker's dozen;
stick my head inside the oven,
for I fear that I'm not one.

Blushing Bride

My wilted, rotten, Rose bouquet –My veil, a crown of thorns.
As dowry to me Master gave a tail to match my horns…
and promised me the one to rule would be but my firstborn.
So something borrowed, something blue my broken Heart becomes.
Now I with sorrow say ‘I do’ to love but only one…
the one of which I stand before with Dreading Dress undone.

Loosey Lips

Absent-minded, automatic
cyclic, circle, systematic
psycho, symptom, sick, somatic
spill the words right out my mouth.

Never-ending, contin-u-ous,
flowing, flapping, super-fluous,
lewd and lavish, misconstrued this
wretchedness which runs right out.

(have you ever been talking nervously to someone realizing at the same time that you're saying too much and should stop but can't???)

Another Sleepless, Sexless Night

Close by my side,
slept sound through the night,
a form fine as wine
wrenching rich with all might.

And his eyes – blue lagoons!
like two watery moons,
won’t neglect to protect
as fast over me loom.

But love perplexed will follow next,
as by his act, my soul left vexed…
or lack of act is the matter of fact!
as he pushed me aside for a night of no sex.

X-Mas List

Even Devils couldn’t tempt or soothe as sex and wealth they offer me.
These things are meager swings of mood – its witches' tools I want for me!
Henbane, hemlock, liverwort,
the left foot of a crow,
Saturn’s fumes and sulfur dust,
an image of my foe.

The withered pose of petal rose and Vervain’s vile tea,
the spider’s leg and lizard’s tail with deadly nightshade seed;
such salts and stones and baby’s bones,
bloodroot, bat, and bee.
These little things the Devil brings
are all I want for me!

The Mynah Birds Cry

I fell asleep beneath the Elm
and thus began to dream.
Whilst sleeping sound in sleeper’s realm,
the Mynah birds did sing,
and whispered unto me a spree of many a curious thing –
that I should die, but then to rise
and reign the world as Queen!

I woke from chilly winds and then,
I found to my surprise,
before me lay a cap and pin;
the Mynah birds did cry,
a cooing soft from Elm tree tops and tempting me to try
the crown of gold and dagger cold that shone before my eyes.

I placed the crown upon my head,
the dagger through my breast.
The loss of life and blood that bled
put Mynah birds to rest.
Then perched the worst of all the Mynahs stiff atop my chest
and thrice it pecked to resurrect a Queen from fallen flesh.
