An Evening of Pleasure

Late in the evening as I sat by the hearth ,
Deep within me grew a fastidious thirst.
It filled me until I could stand it no more
At a run my slipper clad feet hit the floor
With less of a shuffle and more of a sprint
I raced to her as my nose caught a hint
A hint of ambrosial perfume;
Exquisite aroma invaded the room.
All hesitation fled my movement
As from her resting place I seized the scent.
With sudden saccharine sweetness my lips were dressed
In a selfish manner its earthy warmth caressed,
“More marshmallows, pumpkin?” was my mother’s query
With a foam rimmed smile, I nodded in a hurry
What better way,
Is there to end the day,
Than hot chocolate at midnight?

A Monday Night

A chuckle,
A snicker,
A giggle,
A short little laugh.
A snort,
A guffaw,
A roll on the floor,
Nearly in tears I realize I am not alone in the room.
An eye brow rises at my odd conniption.
I merely point breathlessly at the corner.
Once more the cat has gotten its head caught in a plastic cup.

A Season's Dance

Bare,
Yet fair,
None can compare.
To the nude silver branches and barren expanses,
That the cool of winter doth bring.
Unless you equate the way the birds sing,
In the start of the fresh, blooming spring.
Or perhaps the warm air,
Filled with crickets’ prayer,
That’s found only in the summer’s afternoon glare.
But then there is the time of the harvest,
With leaves like the paint on the palette of an artist.
Such tender, splendor indeed, in each season is found,
For in Nature, beauty truly doth rise and abound.

Confusion

Up and down
My feet are no longer situated on the ground
I'm losing my focus
My minds a buzz of locusts
The world is spinning round
Up and down
Is the sky still blue?
Or has that changed too?
Is the grass still green?
That remains to be seen!
It's all just a blur
Full of doubt, I'm unsure
Up and down
Is this a smile or a frown
Nothing's the same
It's a whole new game
And yet life moves on
And the past is gone
Only the future remains

A Vision

To dream,
Such dreams.
Such pain foretold.
Women of old,
As fears unfold.
Burning, cracking, the earth splits apart.
Warning, oh warning of my poor breaking heart.
Losing love as it fades into black,
Splitting the earth with fiery cracks.
The starless sky, filled with ash,
For magma bursts through a glowing red gash.
Such fear, unknown, what are you saying.
Please I need to know what the future doth hold, I’m begging, I’m praying.
Am I decaying?
Such dreams,
To dream.
No more, let me sleep.

Quarter Sized Foe

Looming Doom
Horrendous Horror
Coming for me
Chasing after me
I take one step
It takes eight
I cannot out run it
I must fight
Fight this suffocating fear
With an Iron Will
I turn and face my opponent
And with a courage of the ages
I bring swiftly down bristled justice upon this monstrous abomination
A squelch peals the air as I deal injury to my foe
But alas my enemy is strong and loss of limb shan’t stop him
New tactics must be taken
I wield my weapon of wood and straw and scream ‘MOMMMMMY QUICK BEFORE IT GETS AWAY’
And with but a noble shoe my adversary was dead
