Jan Allison

A poem in honour of a lovely lady named Jan,
She writes poetry but was never sure about her talent.
She didn't think that she could do it
but now she knows she can.
I wanted her to embrace poetry
and learn to have faith in herself,
to write and show her work,
not just to leave it on the shelf.
She's in her element now she shares,
in her words it shows she cares.
Her feet barely touching the ground,
The bonus too, is undoubtably,
the great friendships that she's found.
It's truly wonderful to see my friend
stretching out her wings
and enjoying all the benefits
sharing her poetry brings.

A Gamers Romance

I met a man on xbox, with whom I did play,
we killed zombies almost every day.
I liked his voice right from the start,
it set off a spark inside of my heart.
He's considerate and very kind, just the right sort,
the kind I don't mind.
He says things to me
I've not heard before,
the kind of stuff that I'd like to hear more.
He lives a couple of hours away from me
but we might meet up,I'll wait and see.
I like his accent and his voice,
in fact,it would be my accent of choice.
I think our accents are quite similar,
so it feels comfy to me,known, familiar.
He has asked me out,to a gig,
not a small one but one quite big.
The florist came with a beautiful bouquet,
the very best roses,I hasten to say.
He makes me laugh and he makes me smile,
feels like we've known each other for a while.
So could this man be right for me?
only time will tell,I'll wait and see.

Life Unwanted

In this life I live of trouble and woe,
virtually impossible to function
under the extreme pressure and sorrow.
In this life I live I am a prisoner,
denied,restricted and tethered.
The cold harsh sands of time
scour against my skin, age me, I am weathered.
In this life I live,
mine is but an abstract coil, bitterly twisted,
out of alignment, gone ascue.
Each passing moon, comes too soon,
then the sun that burns and blisters as I toil.
I long for finality, an eternal conclusion.
In this life I live, utterly unwanted,
endlessly drowning in its turbulant seas.
Magnificent sun,giver of life,
rise no more,
so I may be at ease.

The Bridge

As I stand tentatively on this ledge,
I begin to wonder
if they'll bother to dredge.
I doubt it,with a river so wide,
not for yet,another suicide.
Then I contemplate the rivers depth
and how it undoubtedly
will steal my breath.
As my legs begin to tremble,
I look back at how my life did resemble.
As I'm thinking of my final seconds,
a hand,quite close,
waves and beckons.
I go to jump and end it all
but something grabs me
and stops my fall.
Several saviours are now pinning me down.
Why did they stop me?
I wanted to drown.

Single Mum Done

I am all woman
But yet am strong
because I've had to be,
little did I know
that fate would deal me a blow
and leave me alone
to raise my family.

Don't be mistaken,
I welcomed my fate,
so that I could raise my family
with love and no hate.

My duties are now over,
I feel I did succeed,
I provided love and care
and all they would ever need.

My children, now young adults
are intelligent and polite,
as difficult as those years were,
I think I did it right!

Be Happy

There's only one thing in life of which you can be sure
and that is that death will come knocking at your door.
It might not be for a very long time
but your fate is just as certain as mine.
So live your life like there's no tomorrow,
do your best to avoid all sorrow.
Be as happy as you can
with what life throws your way
because after all ....
Tomorrow is another day!

The Horizontal Boyfriend

My boyfriend is one
unlike any I've had before.
He spends the majority
of his time
as horizontal as the floor.
He likes to relax,
let it all hang out,
my friends often avert their eyes
whenever he's about.
He likes to be naked
when he's horizontal,
my friends are sometimes shocked
when faced with a full frontal.
When he visits,I let him in,
he heads straight to the couch,
where he promptly assumes
the position in which
he loves to slouch.
I wouldn't mind
him chilling out,
if was only occasionally
but he takes up loads of room
and the couch
is made for three!

Gold Digger

You go to work,
toil hard all day.
Works for me,
keeps you out of my way.
At the end of the month
you get your salary,
then you can buy me gifts,
with which to lavish me.

Wine and dine me
a few times a week,
then another I wont seek.
I need my hair done,
you can pay
but don't hang around,
you don't have to stay.

I'll even let you cook for me,
I'll have Lobster Frittata for my tea.
Dom Perignon is the drink I choose
but no plonk please,
no cheap booze.

We can go to Paris for the weekend,
I'm sure you wont mind if I bring a friend.
Then we'll go shopping and you can come too.
There'll be bags to carry,
there'll be quite a few.

If you get tired,
I suppose you can stop
but I'll carry on to the next shop.
I test drove a sports car,
that was really nice,
I said you'd buy it,
didn't notice the price.

I'll sleep in the bed,
you can stay in that chair.
You can get a blanket,
you'll be comfy there.

What's all that?
Is that my stuff?
What do you mean,
you've had enough?
Why are my bags by the door?
What do you mean,
you don't love me anymore?

Too Quick To Judge

Some people think I can't rhyme
but my lyrical skills are sublime.
They take one look and think they know
but I'll hit you with my beat
and you will reap what you sow.
Judging me quick at the very first glance
but when my beat hits you,
all you'll wanna do is dance.
Too quick to judge,
too quick to label,
with my rhyming and timing,
I am more than able.
So let my rhythm get you straight in the heart.
Don't be quick to judge
right from the start.
Listen to my lyrics and my melody,
open your mind and truly be free.
