African Traditional Religion

AFRICAN TRADITIONAL RELIGION

Our culture, our worship, our belief, our trait
From West they came, they marred our pride
As Blacks protest, the Whites defend
Religions they brought are filled with threat
So unprepared, the groom met bride
Right now in chaos, we still pretend
Now people cheat, and live un-straight
But if t’was then, t’would not be tried
We need retrace, let truth descend.

Our church increase, our Mosque expand
Our tears abound, our fears resound
And should I call for us to merge?
The more I think, I don’t und’stand
In time of old, our faith was sound
You dare not err, or try to serge
The gods would strike and take their stand
Those faiths from West could not expound
Alas! Oh God, our faiths enlarge.

Africa My Africa

One among the seven of them
A unique color all the same
As though I would not face the race
But still the black skin was my case
I smile, I laugh and now regain
And if I’d chance to choose again
Africa, Africa my Africa!

A race in which all men have aim
So strong, well fixed in strength and fame
As if by trick and charm it works
The blacks have come to walk their words
Let’s pray, let’s aim, let’s hope and see
All men, all-living, man-made and sea
Through Africa, the peace you seek, perceive!

A World Only Dreamth

Stanza 1
If all the seas were one sea,
What a great sea that would be;
Should all the mountains be one?
Such a high mountain we would have.
And if all vegetation were just one,
What a lonely zone that would carve
Stanza II
If all the schools were one school,
What an excellent learning made much cool
If all the buildings were one house,
What a pattern we could create
Should all the fashions come to arouse,
So much beauty made so great.
Stanza III
When all authorities are like one,
What a philosophy would be on?
If all the centuries were informed,
All the decadence will be lost.
And if all diversities had conformed,
Nearly nothing would go worst.
Stanza IV
Th’gh all churches are like God’s,
The famous doctrines are still god’s
Yet great waters clap in praise
By and large God is God
Come to Yahweh, praises raise!
Nothing ever can be odd.

A Night In Hell

I laid me down my bed to rest:
---and dreamt a little space.
I can’t say how it turned a dream:
---because it was so real
My flesh, my bone, myself were burned.
---a fire that could not quench,
I screamed, I cried and all I saw:
---were souls who waste in hell.

I thought of how I had gone there:
---and how I could escape.
The more I think, the more I waste:
---my thoughts so condemned me.
My past, the life I lived in sin:
---were shown to me like film.
My God, My God! I had to cry:
I need a second chance!

My early days were just and fair.
---an infant-righteous boy,
My mum had done her best for me,
---she showed me way to God.
I was so close to Priest and Monk,
---but how came all my doom?
Since when I left my father’s ways,
---I had myself to blame.

And now that God has spared my life,
---therez still a lot to do.
I pledge my help to spread the work:
---to souls who live in sin.
I’ll preach, I’ll teach, I’ll save, I’ll help;
---Whatever else to do,
When God will knock, my soul is safe,
---forever, I’ll be glad.

All Well

ALL WELL
I left so soon to keep my vow
So quick, well dressed, I got prepared
I came, I prayed, I bowed in awe
-and felt a being not seen but heard
I tried to state my case and fears
As much I pressed, I could not speak
And all that came from me was tears
Right there and then, I fell so weak
He took my cares and wants to God
-before my eyes, I saw him pray
The things I knew I won’t afford
He brought to me and had to spray
I sought for thanks and praise to raise
It’s well with me, again it’s well!

The Missing South

Show me the Southern Nigeria; show me the twin sister of the North; (1).
At first before the masters came, we had the South; we had the North; (2) The thought of how the South had died, I try to grab, but yet can not; (3) A region so filled with skill and wealth, so rich in herbs, in crops and nut; (4) But why O South were you in haste, replaced by daughters, not one but three; (5) South-East, South-West and young South-South, they disagree, more often than not; (6) The lack of peace, the loss of unity, the origin of threat and all what not; (7)

We once were one, our quest was one; but now, though three, can't win the North; (8) Arise O South! and walk your talk; defend your rights, rebuild your worth; (9) We cry, we yearn, and all we want, to have a South, just like the North; (10) The South is dead! the South is dead!! Oh waxing North, where is your sort? (11)
Three confused daughters fighting a course; the North will win and win a lot(12)                                                                S'East will strike, S'West defends; S'South is bought, they sold their worth;(13)                                                                 Restore the South! the people cry, they take to streets, the quest is hot;
Marry the three! unite the South; let's have the South equal to North. (14)

The Missing South

Show me the Southern Nigeria; show me the twin sister of

the North;

At first before the masters came, we had the South; we

had the North;

The thought of how the South had died, I try to grab, but

yet can not;

A region so filled with skill and wealth, so rich in herbs, in

crops and nut;

But why O South were you in haste, replaced by daughters,

not one but three

South-East, South-West and young South-South, they

disagree, more often than not;

The lack of peace, the loss of unity, the origin of threat

and all what not;

We once were one, our quest was one; but now, though

three, can't win the North;

Arise O South! and walk your talk; defend your rights,

rebuild
your worth;

We cry, we yearn, and all we want, to have a South, just

like the North;

The South is dead! the South is dead!! Oh waxing North,

where is your sort?

Three confused daughters fighting a course; the North will

win and win a lot

S'East will strike, S'West defends; S'South is bought, they

sold their worth;

Restore the South! the people cry, they take to streets,

the quest is hot;

Marry the three! unite the South; let's have the South equal

to North.

Mariagoretti

I saw her pics in Zaria
They said her name is Maria
I thought it was a nickname
But, Lo it was her real name
She's not the girl in CNN
She's just a girl in UNN
Her look is so adorable
Her brain is not comparable
I can't explain her loyalty
With all her traits of royalty
King Charles is called His Majesty
Her name should be Her Majesty
She brings to mind St. Goretti
Her namesake  MARIAGORETTI.

My Son; My Bombom

He is my BOMBOM;
My lovely boy with a heart of gold;
Ever cheerful and down to earth.

He is my lovely Boy, through thick and thin.
Ever caring and always supportive.

He is my lovely Boy,
in whom I'm well pleased;
Brilliant, intelligent, yet always unassuming.

He is my lovely Boy,
My Pride and my Friend;
Sometimes restive,
But always obedient and accommodating.

He is my lovely Boy
With so much of my virtue and weakness in him;
Reaches out to even beyond known boundaries.

CHUKWUKA, my PRINCE and my Son,
On this occasion of your Birthday, what can I say other than wishing you an endless season of all round bliss.

May the good Lord continue to uphold and sustain you in His stupendous love and wisdom. Amen.

Congratulations, my dear Son.
